Yeah Okay, You're Right : So it's less than a month away now, and we've not said a word about it (yo, things got hectic around here!), but we're still very excited for the 'roo. You probably already know what Bonnaroo is, but on the off-chance you've been hiding in a cave for the past 11 years, there's a huge music festival that's about to happen on a lovely farm in Manchester, Tennessee from June 7th through the 10th. For a long weekend, music fans flood the small Tennessee town and camp out [...]
While Bonnaroo has certainly built its reputation on the the diverse and high quality amount of music that they book each year, they are certainly no slouches when it comes to doing the same with top flight comedy acts. Over the course of the fest's 11-year history they've nabbed everyone from mega-superstars like Chris Rock, Lewis CK and Conan O'Brien to established vets like David Cross, Patton Oswalt and Lewis Black to up and comers like John Mulaney and Donald Glover. Last week fest organizer's revealed this year's slate of comedians that will be [...]

Gathering Mercury marks singer/songwriter Colin Hay's eleventh studio album in just over 20 years—a hallmark for some, but if you asked Colin, he'd tell you he's just getting started. Though leading Australian band Men At Work and gaining a coveted spot in Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band are certainly career highlights to name a few, his charming songwriting hasn't lilted in the slightest. In fact, Gathering Mercury is among his strongest work to date. His performance last Wednesday at 3rd and Lindsley spoke volumes, but above the communal laughter and hushed [...]

We threw a small end of summer bbq that went long into the night. The last few stragglers that remained into the twilight all gathered around the firepit with a drink, and we started playing my favorite game, one that I love to think I invented. It's basically giving everybody a chance to be the DJ for a song, a mix between a jukebox, and that game where you start telling a story and then the next person finishes. I love ...
Aussie Folksinger Colin Hay offers a solo rendition of the Beatles' 'Norwegian Wood' for a session at Rolling Stone
The former Men at Work frontman sits down with PopMatters to talk about the passing of his father, adding humor to dramatic songs, and how he wish he got rid of that fluteline all those years ago ... [Video directed by J.C. Sciaccotta] Colin Hay has had a remarkable career. Actually, he's had two of them. The first one was as part of Men at Work, his merry group of Australian pop perfectionists who absolutely dominated the charts in the early 80s, winning a Grammy for Best New Artist while also conquering the charts with catchy hits like "Down [...]

One of the greatest gifts my brother has given is introducing me to Colin Hay by way of Going Somewhere which will always be one of my favorite albums of all time. And yes - this was long before Mr Braff and Garden State . If you ever have the opportunity to see this man live - it will be one of your most favorite concert experiences ever. Not only is Hay's voice one of the best in the business but the man is uber hi-larious. [...]

Went to see Colin "Men At Work" Hay at The Birchmere last night-he's supporting his new (and great) Gathering Mercury album (review here ). Let me start by saying that the opener, Chris Trapper, was way better than an opener has any right to be. (I plan on doing a feature on him soon.) He was so good, in fact, that I started asking myself why Colin would allow someone this good to preceed him. I started thinking maybe Mr. Hay wouldn't measure up. Of course, I was wrong. Colin Hay has a tremendous presence [...]

Maybe the most remarkable thing about Colin Hay is this: My wife and I both love his music. Me, I was a big fan of Men at Work. I had their first album and all of the 45s associated with it. For you of the MPfree generation, 45s were singles. I'd run down Seventh Avenue to Soundtrack every Saturday with five bucks and score four 45s. The cool thing about them was I'd get a top 40 song-back when top 40 was good-and a lot of the time I'd get a rare B-side that didn't make the [...]
