Two of my favourite bands from a few years ago were Blood Red Shoes and Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly. I got to see both bands in Cork in tiny venues (The Whisky, formerly the Blues Bar, and The Savoy lounge respectively). Since those days, Blood Red Shoes have made [Read more]
The first single and title track from the Essex-born indie electronic artist called brilliantly Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. is called "Collapsing Cities" and it's got an amazing video treatment already done to it (single shot epic with mouthed lyrics from a pre-teen boy who just wants to score a football goal and eat cotton [...]

Don't get me wrong, I love the guy. He's a guitar hero and a legend. But the Alex Kapranos produced Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever album is the cream of The Cribs ' output so far - a sparser feel, taut, driven.. it's easier to hear the songs, it's easier to (gulp) move to, easier to sing to. The new album ? Layered, rock-y.. too much, for me. Too dense. Too complex. But a legend is a legend, so we popped along to the Juice Bar at the Windsor in [...]
