Yes, it's true; new music from Knox Road favorite , Color of Clouds! Dan sent us their new four-song EP, Tiny Hammers , to be digitally released May 17, and it shows a new side to CoC. I'm providing the track "Sleep" below, as it best represents the slight change in sound. Kelli Scarr's vocals are still in tip-top shape, but this time, she sounds a little more raw, passionate, and soulful, while guitar-rock drives the sound. When I told Dan I thought the sound was different than in the past (not in a bad way!), he replied, [...]

For many people, music is one of the first ports of call when dealing with grief, whether it be loss of life, broken relationships or shattered hearts, it's comforting to find a piece of music to find solace in. Without giving away too much about my own life, here is a short yet insightful look into some tracks that have the ability to turn on my waterworks. Bright Eyes - Lime Tree Choosing just one track from Conor Oberst was far and away the most complex decision in compiling this list. With his unrivaled back catalogue [...]

People, THIS is why I love the fucking internets. I spent the day at the workstead listening to Lohio . I located the Jude, picked him up, stopped off for cereal (also fondly known as dinner; Trix), and headed home. I blogged about Lohio. I discovered The Ampeater Review , stumbled upon a picture there in the top row, and thought, "Dude, Color of Clouds . Sweet. Wonder what they sound like? Can you really put just ONE color to a cloud? Let's just click this and listen real quick - ah, shit yes.". Then [...]
Kelli Scarr is nothing if not multi-talented -- and exceptionally busy. From playing guitar and singing as an integral member of Moby's band on his last album tour, scoring a variety of films, fronting a variety of indie bands over the years (Moonraker, Salt and Samovar), Scarr was most recently a member of Color of Clouds an electroacoustic folk/pop trio that released their fine full-length debut Satellite of Love in February. But through all the transition and projects -- and raising her 3-year-old son -- the Brooklynite still found time to craft her own songs. Piece [...]

This week's "New". Enjoy! Deer Tick - 20 miles (MP3) from The Black Dirt Sessions out June 8, 2010 on Partisan Records One for the Team - Hard for You (MP3) from Ghosts released March 16, 2010 on Afternoon Records Colour of Clouds - Brother (MP3) from Satellite of Love released April 6, 2010 on [...]
"Brother" - Color of Clouds With a hint of glitch seasoning its spry intimacy, "Brother" is the work of a band with a gift for uncomplicated complexity, if that phrase makes any sense. Great pleasures await here in straightforward juxtapositions. For one immediate example, listen to how the beat glides seamlessly from a chime-like electronic stutter into a cozy 4/4 with a wistful bounce, driven by the gentlest of drumbeats. And then, without fuss, enters singer Kelli Scarr, arriving as if she'd been here all along, starting the story just about in mid-sentence, [...]
[ download ] [tweetmeme] The three members of Brooklyn's Color of Clouds previously shared stage time together in the electronic-dappled indie rock act Moonraker . In the trio's new incarnation, the group has fixed their collective gaze on decidedly more pastoral ambitions, making soulful, delicate indie-pop that is downright gorgeous. It is easy to see why, with just an EP to their name, the band's music insinuated itself onto the soundtracks of major television shows including One Tree Hill and Ugly Betty (I know, I know, but [...]

In the vein of Feist and Cat Power, new comer Kelli Carr is here to stun audiences with her own vocal magic. Fronting the group Color of Clouds, this is one band to look out for. Free download and release party information inside!

Well now we've got an extra special treat for ya. We're providing you with two of the new new tracks (not the remastered ones from The Look EP) for your free consumption. Go out and share them; they're quite lovely. The album as a whole is delicious, I can't think of a better word to describe it. Pop you can eat right [...]

Not sure how I missed this one. KR favorites , Color of Clouds, released a "free EP" of sorts last month because fans were digging their song "Burn It Down". which CoC had planned on editing a bit for their forthcoming album. The EP has the original version of the song, along with an acoustic version and a "minimalist" mix. I'm not sure these guys can fail us much, they're most certainly heading for the big time, just waiting on that album release for things to blow up. "Burn It Down" is nothing but straightforward pop, something [...]

It might not just be the color (or colour as I know it...sorry, inside joke) of clouds, but more so the weightless feeling you get while transfixed by the movement of them. If the movement could be translated, it just might be the ambient indie pop that is "Color of Clouds". The new Color of Clouds EP "The Look" is now out and available at your finest online merchants (as of May 11th). The release includes 5 tracks to wake up beside, drive to work along side of, kick back with and maybe just to float away with. [...]

Appropriate name much? The electroacoustic trio, Color of Clouds , hail from Brooklyn and were actually referred to me by KR friend and favorite, Ivana XL (thank you Ivana!) Fronted by the crisp vocals of Kelli Scarr, along with the backing duo of Dan Chen and Nate Greenberg, Color of Clouds brings us a bit of magic in every way possible. You ever play Candyland as a kid? Well imagine you've been placed into that lovely world of Candyland (the good parts of course, where like, you get to move forward - I think that's [...]
Yesterday, Jess introduced everyone to Color of Clouds . They sound amazing, and after our piece they got in touch to offer a free download of one of the best tracks from their EP: a little gem called Left You. Download and enjoy below, but hurry - it's just for 7 days! MP3: Color of Clouds - Left You

Color of Clouds are a charming indie-folk trio from Brooklyn, New York. The band is fronted by Kelli Scarr, formerly of electronica outfit Moonraker and the Americana-inspired Salt and Samovar. Scarr's velvety smooth voice (often likened to '1 2 3 42 singer, Feist) perfectly mixes amongst the band's serene instrumentation and ambient electro beats. Color of Clouds count Flaming Lips and Postal Service as just two of their influences, both of whom have been likened to the band's music by past critics. The band's shiny sweet songs are co-written between Kelli and fellow Color of [...]
