Electronic music is not just to be heard, it must be experienced. And while electronic sounds have been essential to American popular music for well over 30 years, many are still hesitant to delve into the art-forms roots. As the birthplace of techno music, Detroit has tried to break down these barriers and showcases some of the world's greatest techno, electro, experimental talent, and even some bro-step to as many people as they can fit on their beautiful waterfront. Now in its 12th year, Detroit's Electronic Music Festival (DEMF), which now goes by the title Movement , doesn't just showcase the various genres, [...]

Com Truise Galactic Melt Ghostly International When hearing the artist name Com Truise (born Seth Haley), one may assume that the music behind the name may be quite laughable, hence the comical slip of the tongue (or tip of the slung as Com Truise might say). However, when listening to even one of his boldly retro tunes, any doubts are shot down with the matured conceptions of analog synth work and and pop-friendly grooves. Somewhere in-between the Logan’s Run soundtrack and the ending scene of your favorite 80s flick, Com Truise’s signature sound emerges. “Chillwave” has overtaken [...]

We haven't kept it very secret over the years how much we heart( a lot) these windy city bastards. If you don't know, The Hood Internet , is the first and last word in mash aka they legitimized it. Sorry everyone else. Girl Talk turned it into a dance party, but that is a different story. We bopped into their soundcloud and yanked to tracks from this year. If you ever have a second... in your jetsetting buy/sell schedule hehe it is a surefire way to burn an hour or so flipping through their back pages. [...]
In a summer filled with brilliant, weird, VHS-indebted electronic pastiche—Com Truise's self-titled debut, Boxcutter's The Dissolve, Stephen Farris' actual VHS release Cosmic Sound II—maybe the most surprising distinction of Ford & Lopatin's Channel Pressure is ... read more

The Hood Internet - Slow John (Lil Wayne x Com Truise) by hoodinternet Have you noticed our new thing at the bottom of the page?

Why does it take remix geniuses like The Hood Internet to get Weezy F. and The Bawse to spit over certified super-sonic sounds like this? Seriously, half the time I see these two archetype MCs billed together I pass, simply because I immediately assume the typical. Thankfully, this blend of hi-fi-ing NY producer Com-Truise's "Slow Peels" with Wayne's Carter IV single "John" sounds more like something David Hasselhoff would cruise around to in KITT, much more than just another redundant Lex-Luger beat. Truth be told, the contrast leaves their go-for-broke, if-I-die-tonight lyrics sounding [...]

Pretty vicious remix / mash up here. The Hood Internet has taken the lead single for the Carter IV and put Com Truise on the beat. If you haven't seen the video for this one yet I highly suggest you check it out... just to see Ross' wheelchair; it's amazing. I feel like artists like The Hood Internet are always being hated on. They do such great work but then they don't get support because they used wayne's a capella.. or like when Wait What used Biggie's with The xx. In my opinion it is a good thing [...]

Lil Wayne x Com Truise - Slow John (Hood Internet Remix) Another mashterpiece from Chicagoans The Hood Internet , keeping things interesting. In addition check out their congealed concoction of The Cataracs, The Pack & Boards of Canada below: The Hood Internet - Blueberry Cycling (The Cataracs x The Pack x Boards Of Canada) by hoodinternet Possibly my favorite mashup collective. What do you think? drink the kool aid:
The Hood Internet have been at this mash-up thing for a while now; and somehow they manage to put out material that's drastically better than other mash-up artists. Here they take Wayne's "John" and match it up with Com Truise's "Slow Peel" to create their latest winner. Shout out to the Shout Box for sending me in the right direction. Here I go again, posting another mashup. I'm really you sorry guys. This is the last one I'll do for at least like, two or three days. They just keep following me around, begging to be posted, but I'm working on it. Therapy and that sort of thing. In other news, The Hood Internet has gone all crazy on us again. This time marrying Weezy F. Crazy's track "John" with "Slow Peel", a fine tune by a gent named Tole Crickle. I mean Com Truise . It's below, y'all know the drill. [...]

As a metro-Detroiter who loves all things Detroit, I can pretty confidently say that the Movement Electronic Music Festival (the festival formally known as DEMF aka Detroit Electronic Music Festival) is among my top Detroit events of the year. I remember back in the day when I drove down to Detroit all by myself for the first time to go to the fest (before I even knew what electronic music was, but just wanted to see what all the commotion was about) when it was still free, with every kind of character you could imagine inread more [...]
Its been a little while since I devoted a post to the lost art of the remix. Actually there's been quite a few outstanding/different re-works flowing out of the net recently. There's... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Detroit is about to be booming with some of the richest and most desirable artists our generation has to offer. The blues, gospel, jazz, pop, R&B, rock and roll, hard core and hip-hop scenes have all individually established their presence in this Midwestern city. The birth of Motown Records might have been reason enough to shed some infinite light on Detroit’s musical talents, but Motown’s soulful sounds laid the concrete base for what was next. George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic’s instrumental layers and song structures were borrowed to help directly influence Detroit’s “Techno” scene that debuted in the early 1980s. House, [...]

It's difficult to listen to Seth Haley 's musical projects and consider any one of them better than the other. I've spent the past two years mining and surveying Com Truise , Airliner , Sarin Sunday and even SYSTM , and they're all so damn good. Airliner has resonated with me the longest, but when Haley decides to nonchalantly unveil some darker, down tempo selections from the past I can't help but treat [...]
In the week leading up to the Osheaga Music Festival , the festival's promoters stage a series of shows in Montreal's various venues. All the specifics follow: Wednesday, July 27 – the SAT THE GLITCH MOB, PHANTOGRAM, COM TRUISE 9pm (doors at 8pm) Tickets from $22.50 to [...]
