I remember that day as if it was yesterday... (From The Witching Hour #36, November 1973) Almost seventeen years together and four years this day as husband and wife, and we owe it all to the Dark Arts! (I kid. Maura is actually an animist non-traditional Catholic, which parses as "witch" to my Puritan-descended cognitive processes.) Happy Anniversary, my Funky Foo! Even on those very rare [...]
This week's mix: an hour-long tribute to one of my five yet-to-be-revealed favorite songs of the nineties! I bet you can't figure out what it is! Sadly I didn't have room for any John Barry on here... Added bonus, though: Throw this on at about 11:15 tonight and your new year's party will be out of control before midnight-you'll easily be frolicking with someone (or everyone) on a bearskin rug by the time the apple drops. The Return of Rue Chaptal. Thanks again to Andrea -- one of her old mixes was a lifesaver for us Monday night -- we thought we'd share it with y'alls. Tres sophistiqué! (I mean, yes, that's totally a Ladytron cover of that naughty Tweet song!) Petula Clark -- Un Jeune Homme Bien The Creatures -- Weathercade The Dears -- Heartless Romantic Black Box Recorder -- The Art of Driving Throwing Muses --
Four Rooms is a movie about one bellhop, played by Tim Roth, who deals with four crazy situations in four different rooms at the hotel where he works one New Year's Eve. Each story is presented as its own mini-movie, directed by a different director, with the bellhop as the unifying character. It's an interesting concept and most of the stories are pretty funny. Roth does a great job and the
