![[Hip-Hop] Common – The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.) (Prod. J. Period)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4756580_lg.jpg)
Common 's " I Used To Love H.E.R. " is revered as one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time. Nearly twenty years later, we finally have a sequel in "The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.)." The track was crafted for J. Period 's new mixtape, Rage Is Back , dropping on February 12th in celebration of his new novel by the same name. While the title implies it's a follow up to the original, I wouldn't hold it to the same standards as the 1994 classic. It's much too short, with only one real verse, and doesn't [...]
Common teams up with J. Period to revisit "H.E.R." on "The Next Chapter." The track - which incorporates a bit of Portishead's "Sour Times" - comes from J. Period’s Rage [...] The post Common x J. Period – "The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.)" appeared first on The Smoking Section .

Winning. I was talking about Common earlier today with RTC after bumping The Dreamer, The Believer when I woke up, but I didn't the day would go so symbolically well. The J. Period produced track continues where Common's '94 "I Used to Love H.E.R " leaves off. "'The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.)' celebrates the latest episode in my lifelong lyrical love-affair with hip hop," Common says. This knocks. Off of J. Period's upcoming Rage is Back mixtape. Listen below. props to BB

Premiering today exlcusively on Billboard.com, J.PERIOD joins forces with hip hop icon COMMON for the exclusive new single, "The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.)" [Produced by J.PERIOD], the following single from the forthcoming RAGE IS BACK mixtape. "The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.)" celebrates the latest episode in COMMON's lifelong lyrical love-affair with hip hop, over exclusive production by J.PERIOD. This latest track follows J.PERIOD & Black Thought's "Rage Is Back (Freestyle)," which premiered last month on Okayplayer.com, and marks the second installment of a literary first: exclusive promo music released in tandem with a new novel. [...]

Produced by J. Period. Common picks up where he left off on "I Used To Love H.E.R." for this new joint from DJ/producer J. Period's new project, Rage Is Back . The project drops February 12th, so definitely keep an ear out for that. Check this one out while I take some time and revisit Resurrection . Props to Billboard .

As the story goes, Common met and fell in love with hip-hop at the age of 10, though he would later wax on his true feelings for the genre on "I Used to Love H.E.R.". And now that he's 40 years old, he's proclaiming that he still loves hip-hop by way of an update of his classic track with some help from J.Period. Over a flip of "Danube Incident"—Portishead fans know that tune—Com spits some impressive, albeit brief, bars on a cut that will land on J.Period's upcoming Rage is Back tape. [ via]

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN ACTUAL ALBUM(S) BUT A NEW FEATURE IN WHICH WE OUTLINE A PROJECT(S) WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE HAPPEN. With all the exciting news being announced by Questlove these past few weeks, we were inspired to put together a special edition of Armchair A&R. With collaborations already in the works with D'Angelo and Elvis Costello , we thought we would throw together some dream collaborations of our own involving the Legendary Roots Crew. Of course, some of these collaborations involve the creative mastery of Questlove [...]
OK, so what the fuck is going on right now at G.O.O.D. Music? Is it merely the fact that they want to keep messing with us or is it simply that some people don't know what's going on? I'm referring to the fact that numerous members of the crew have reported different information regarding the Cruel Summer follow-up we've all been calling Cruel Winter . Last year, we heard Pusha T talk about how Q-Tip and Kanye West were major players on Cruel Winter . But then Common [...]

Did you guys hear about Lupe Fiasco getting escorted off the stage by security at a pre-inaugural concert for performing a thirty minute song railing against Obama? This is the kind of thing I can get behind, and I LIKE Obama. Don't be afraid to be loud, y'all. This little story has nothing to do with this month's mix though. I just wanted to mention it because it's one of my favorite stories this week, and you should check out Lupe's new album Food & Liquor II because it's pretty good. I really appreciate the fact that he [...]
Did You Hear? :: Justin Bieber is now King of Twitter. Lady Gaga , who had 33,342,798 followers as of Tuesday evening, has ceded the throne (unwillingly, we're assuming) now that Biebz has tallied 33,356,465 followers. [ Reuters , because, news?] :: Common says the Cruel Winter rumors are a load of bunk. "I don't think that's happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody's been doing their solo [...]
![[News] Kanye West's 'Cruel Winter' is "more of a rumor", Solo Album Likely](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4735338_lg.jpg)
Ever since G.O.O.D. Music 's Cruel Summer was released last summer, there have been rumors of a seasonal pairing to the album titled Cruel Winter . G.O.O.D. Music artists have mentioned it , there were even teases of an accompanying documentary, but it seems all that was for nothing and Kanye West has moved past the idea. When asked by Vulture about the project, Common stated, "I don't think that's happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody's [...]

With rumors floating around about a new G.O.O.D. Music album called Cruel Winter , Common was asked in a recent interview if that was actually happening. In response, he dispelled any such thing, saying that artists who commented on the project were simply working with Kanye on their respective solo projects. Here is exactly what he had to say: “Oh, yeah, nah, nah. I don’t think that’s happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody’s been doing their solo album. So that’s what that is.” [...]

Back in September of last year, Pusha T gave some strong hints that a Cruel Winter album was on the way from the G.O.O.D. Music camp. Now another member of the crew has a different story. Common spoke with Vulture , and when asked if Cruel Winter was on the way, he had this to say: "Oh, yeah, nah, nah. I don't think that's happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody's been doing their solo album. So that's what that is." [...]

For better or worse, it appears Kanye West has scrapped plans to release Cruel Winter . The winter component to last year's Cruel Summer has been frequently mentioned amongst members of West's record label G.O.O.D. Music, and there were even rumors of an accompanying film. However, when recently asked by Vulture for an update on Cruel Winter , G.O.O.D. Music rapper Common said, "I don't think that's happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody's [...]

Despite conflicting reports from Q-Tip and Big Sean (both of whom said they've contributed to the project), tonight in an interview with Vulture, Common claimed that G.O.O.D. Music's Cruel Winter is not coming out. Frowny face. Does G.O.O.D. Music really have a Cruel Winter album coming? Oh, yeah, nah, nah. I don't think that's happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody's been doing their solo album. So that's what that is. I've heard so many rumors [...]

Chicago hip hop great Common dialed in to the Morning Riot earlier today with a lot on his mind. He discussed Chief Keef's recent arrest, how to stop violence in Chicago and how it relates to his new role in the movie LUV . He also discussed Obama's second term in office and what he'd like to see happen during the next four years.
During a recent stop at DJ Whoo Kid's Whoolywood Shuffle radio show, Com chopped it up with Whoo Kid about working with Kanye, his new mixtape, his upcoming acting roles and more. No I.D., Lupe Fiasco and Travi$ Scott on Com's new mixtape? Yeah, color us interested. Spotted at HHNM .

There is a certain calm that group Cocaine 80s ' music brings when you hit the play button. It could be the dope No I.D. production or just the smooth vibe the group brings to a track but their latest single is another dose of that sick laid-back sound that has become signature. Collaborating with the newly signed Def Jam vocalist Jhene Aiko and Chitown vet Common , the blending of soothing vocals and hard drums makes this track from their upcoming effort a great listen. Be sure to check it out below and pick up their latest ARTium Recordings [...]
