Computer Perfection used to be called Pas/Cal but owing to the immeasurable damage that that forward-slash was having on mp3 tagging the world over they sensibly decided to make the switch. Nothing much has changed in the music mind as anyone who has salivated all over 'Poor Maude' would know. Our first contact with the new incarnation came via 'Able Archer' which was as perfect as you could expect indie pop to be. So in the spirit of adventure and in an effort to prove that they are not just sweet melody merchants songs with twists like 'O Your Blue [...]

This does not go on long enough: My excitement towards the huge amount of great bands releasing music in the early part of 2010 has been dulled considerably after giving an advance listen (draw your own conclusion) to several of these releases. With the clip above, along with the one track that's already been released, I'm remaining hopeful that Tindersticks will make me excited about 2010 again. Tindersticks - Black Smoke Computer Perfection got me excited a-plenty during 2009, especially [...]

worst picture ever? worst picture ever. Due to an abundance of quality songs, combined with an equal abundance of very long songs (I'm a total sucker for 10-minute tracks, and there were lots of good ones this year), I'm gonna split this up over the next three days. As with the end of decade post , this isn't a definitive list - it's just a bunch of favorites arranged in a nice, pleasing way. If you like what you hear, go out and purchase the albums which contain these songs. If you don't like what [...]

I'm deeply sorry about the late post today; I ate an atomic nacho - of my own making - last night, late, after going to the Colorado Avalanche (pro hockey team; they lost) ... suffice to say, it ripped my innards apart and then, sadistically, forced me to shit it out. It looked like the cover to Hella 's {Acoustics} . "Brown bunny," indeed! Now that I've gotten that unpleasantness behind us let me bless you with a review of a cute lil' CD single I'm not sure you [...]

The fine folk at the Romantic Air Recording Company have a 9-song sampler of holiday tunes that can be downloaded for free. It's called Christmas Party and features 3 contributions from the equally-fine folk in Computer Perfection . As mentioned on the Computer Perfection site , this was released last year, albeit just as the holidays were ending. Thanks to the Gregorian calendar, it is once-again relevant and well worth your time. Click here for the album and its accompanying artwork. Previously: From The Inbox: [...]
[ download ] [tweetmeme] There is no way to discuss Computer Perfection without first mentioning the band whence they came. All five members of the group are formerly of Pas/Cal , who-in my many nights of concert going-were the most impressive live band I have ever seen perform. It always seemed, however, that the puppetmaster of their divine drama was vocalist Casimer Pascal, who is conspicuously absent from this new lineup. It was with one arched eyebrow, then, that I undertook my first listen to Computer Perfection, whose debut record, [...]

Hey everyone...busy week...lots of posts, lots of music, and lots of email. It used to be this time of the year the music industry would slow down, but it doesn't seem that way any more as my inbox would indicate. We've got a few Treasure Trove posts still left to do and they've gotten an overwhelming response as of late. The Clean post has been exceptionally busy and if you've not checked out, scroll down. There's all sorts of stuff to download this week and loads of videos to watch while you're doing it. Rather then [...]

In the nascent (i.e. crappy) days of this blog, an aimless ramble of mine eventually touched upon the goodness of Computer Perfection , a lovely group of poppy Michiganders spawned from the remnants of Pas/Cal . The end of that post mentioned that Computer Perfection's debut album would be released later in the year. That was in January. After a very long wait, "later in the year" finally turned into "this week". And that debut album turned into the snappily-named We Wish You Well On Your Way To Hell . Here's [...]

Toronto - Everybody's favorite band based on a coding language - Pas/Cal apparently has broken up. I think a single tear just went down Vik's face. Fans of the poppy Pas/Cal sound need not fear though, as members of the band have formed a new band - Computer Perfection . With a new band, comes new songs, and here is one of them, it's called Able Archer . The debut album We Wish You Well On Your Way To Hell is out on Le Grand Magistery Check it out. [...]
The well-wishers and indie-pop wizards of Computer Perfection are back from hitting the stage at CMJ's Music Marathon here in our own big apple with the first video from their new album, We Wish You Well On Your Way To Hell. The first track from the LP, "Able Archer" is already out on YouTube, featuring [...]

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: I feel as though I should try to see Langhorne Slim at the Mohawk and/or Regina Spektor at Stubb's tonight, but instead I'm going to head to the theater to watch the world get destroyed in 2012. Here's hoping it's worth skipping the shows for. Surprisingly, the press release for today's act simply stated that the band is called Computer Perfection, their lineup consists of former members of PAS/CAL and their debut full length, which is [...]

If it's mid-October in New York City, then it's CMJ Music Marathon time... five days and nights of music, film, informative panels, and parties that guarantee a good time, if your idea of a good time involves nonstop live shows from up-and-coming musicians from a variety of genres. Thing is, since you're reading EAR FARM, we're going to go ahead and assume that CMJ 2009 is your idea of a good time. Ours too. And it just so turns out that fourteen of our previously featured Bands of the Week are playing the festival [...]

As you may have realized by now, we've moved Free Music Fridays from a weekly to a biweekly occurrence. What does this mean to you? It means more time and more free MP3s each time around: all free and legal for you to download and enjoy... just click the band name for the band's site and the song name for the MP3. In addition, we're continuing with our visual art education/appreciation theme for these posts. The above work, Woman with a Lute by Johannes Vermeer [...]
When asked, in an interview, to describe the "dissolution" of Pas/Cal, former member LTD answered back with a chemical formula: NaCl(s) → Na+(aq) + Cl-(aq), the dissolution of salt into water. But Gene C, Bem, N. Burgundy, Stevers McFever, and Aaron Q (remaining member Casimer Pascal will still record under the name) aren't wasting tears [...]
