Frank Yang I've been to a LOT of shows in the past decade or so, and as such my list of bands whom I'm still waiting to see live is pretty short by this point - and last week, it got one big name shorter when I got to see reclusive Swedes The Radio Dept not once but twice in New York thanks to their headliner status at NYC Popfest . The venue for the big show was the Bell House in Brooklyn, a good-sized venue with a vibey bar/lounge up front and a [...]

Since coming across the Radio Dept. a few years ago, I have made it my mission to convert every person I come across into a fan. Naturally, it doesn't take much convincing and everyone from my father to my best friends have fallen in love. The Labrador Records darlings make the trip from Sweden far too infrequently, and as a result, the Bell House show quickly sold out. The Radio Dept.'s set played like a best of list, hitting each of the fan favorites which is particularly fulfilling because of the aforesaid rare US [...]

by bmac I think Pringles' initial intention was to make tennis balls, but on the day that the rubber was supposed to show up, a big truckload of potatoes arrived. by kevin diamond It was midnight and it was raining. I was walking home along the deserted streets of a Sunday night Williamsburg, the patrons of my decadent community locked tight indoors. Their text messages floated back and forth over my head: "taking it ez tonight." one said. And then, in reply: "Yah me2 crazy night last night." But underneath their electronic communique I pondered my own state of being. The cool rain fell upon my face like an oceans mist from the lips of a hurricane. A [...]

When EAR FARM considered our impending move and relaunch at the end of 2007, we decided to switch from a scrolling blog format to a more magazine-y layout that would allow for us to highlight a "cover star"/ Band of the Week each week. In doing so we have featured 43 bands over the course of 2008, ranging from the lo-fi jangly noise pop of Throw Me The Statue to the blistering thrash of Goes Cube . We've had relative unknowns (such as The Laughing and Bombadil ), interviews with indie-rock legends (see [...]

Band: Computer Perfection From: near Detroit, MI Sound: jangly indie pop with sunwashed synthesizers Similar Artists: Bishop Allen, Evangelicals, Michael Andrews, Broadcast Listen Now: "Able Archer" Let's get one thing clear: as much as EAR FARM maintains a solid focus on all manner of music, I've never shied away from sharing my love for a few key movies. Usually this happens in relation to the music within them; sometimes, just to let you know where I'm coming from, I'll drop a [...]
Funny, in years to come when people talk about RAR files they may not be referring to that alternative to the zip. Instead their minds could be focussed on a record label named Romantic Air Recording Co., which has recently slipped out several recordings of rare (cough) quality. Little is known of the Detroit based label but in its short time it has rubbed shoulders with artists as wondrous as
