It's hard not to get lost and taken away amidst the beautiful haunting soundscapes of Conduits.

[Photos by acidjack] Conduits are a new band from the always-punching-above-its-weig ht music scene of Omaha, Nebraska, and we were fortunate enough to catch them right after the release of their promising self-titled debut on the label Team Love . Conduits' reference points include many bands I revere - Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Lush, Portishead and the underappreciated Irish band Scheer - so I was naturally taken with their sound. Lead singer Jenna Morrison, previously of another beloved Omaha band Son, Ambulance , is a commanding frontwoman and vocalist, with the sort [...]

Tweet Not quite shoegaze (they do mention Slowdive and MBV in their bio so it's no coincidence) but a direct descendant nonetheless from this Omaha band who are tantalisingly going on tour with Cymbals Eat Guitars. What a contemporary retro feast that is likely to be given their shared love of all things 902s (something you'll have gathered that we are also quite partial to as well). For all 'Top of The Hill's epic grandeur though it slips by quite quickly, [...]

Date 4/14/12 Location Mohawk Doors 8pm Tickets $12 @ Frontgate You music fans have one hell of a show going down at the Mohawk in Austin on Saturday night with a dual headlining show by Cursive and Cymbals Eat Guitars . We here at ATH have always been huge fans of Cursive, even [...]

Words and photos by Brendan I haven't been writing many concert reviews lately. This is partly due to time, partly due to my desire to write a whole bunch of other posts that are more timely and interesting, and partly due to the notion that concert reviews might not mean too much to somebody who wasn't there or isn't a superfan of the bands involved. I still like writing these reviews-in fact, writing them regularly as a kind of concert journal is what got me into music blogging in the first place!-but I like [...]

This was supposed to be a productive week, those hours after work. But I ended up doing what any solid music nerd would: procrastinate by going through my records and singles, rediscovering old favorites and discovering new treasures hidden within my collection. We listened to The Smiths on repeat for a few days. I dug out an old single by The Rondelles. I got Andi into Crystal Stilts. And despite all this recounting of the past, of all the listening to albums already in my collection, I [...]
Tuesday, April 3, 2012 Today's Quick Mention: Most people are still trying to get their post-SXSW heads on straight, so there aren't very many shows worth catching tonight. My recommendation is that you just go see The Raid: Redemption. It's one of the best action flicks in years. Five songs for your Tuesday! Enjoy. : Moonface - Headed For The Door : I have to admit that I'm rather excited for this act's [...]

Drony Omahaians Conduits are amongst the noisiest signings to Conor Oberst 's Team Love label. You can stream their self-titled album below - and Americans can catch them on tour with Cursive throughout April.

Cursive Three cheers for the weekend! After a scorcher of a week, we're in for a nice (slight) cool front. But it doesn't get any cooler than this weekend's lineup. Sure, that was a lame segue, but it doesn't make the statement any less true. We're highlighting sweet shows featuring such artists as Blizzard Babies, Radar Eyes and Cursive. C'mon ride the train... FRIDAY BLIZZARD BABIES [...]
1. Tanlines - "Brothers" (Indie-pop duo released their excellent sophomore album Mixed Emotions this week on True Panther Records. They create an 80's inspired synth-driven tropicalia-laced dance music and the hypnotically catchy first single, "Brothers" is already my favorite song of the year.) http://www.facebook.com/pages/ Tanlines/138028506222803 Download: http://www.truepanther.com/mp3 /Tanlines_Brothers.mp3 2. Here is what we found interesting on this weeks list of new releases; Christian Bland & The Revelators; Pig Boat Blues Christian Bland & The Revelators; 13 Cent Killer Conduits; S/T Conduits; Top Of The Hill Cousins; The Palm At The End Of The Mind Cousins; Jules [...]

The long-awaited album by The Shins , their first in five years, tops this week's list of new releases. James Mercer has rebooted his project with a new band and heightened production, thanks to Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Kylie Minogue, The Flaming Lips, etc.) and contributions from Richard Swift and Deep Sea Diver's Jessica Dobson, among others. Port of Morrow also deals with some weightier topics, like religious violence and mortality, but even with that and its more richly textured sound, the album is unmistakably "The Shins" and features Mercer's clever turns of phrase and captivating voice. [...]
To celebrate today's crop of releases, here are new mp3s from Choir Of Young Believers, Conduits, Morningbell, Lee Ranaldo, Luke Roberts, Tanlines and White Hills. Also, vote for your favorite of today's new releases.

Cursive + Cymbals Eat Guitars + Conduits / Mr. Small's / 03.18.2012 / Doors 7:00 / $16 Words by Brendan There must be something in the water in Omaha. There have been so many great bands from that Nebraska city, and there are plenty more on the up-and-up. Case in point: shoegaze gloom-pop band Conduits . They're putting out their first LP this month and heading on a cross-country tour with two great rock bands- Cursive (fellow Omahans!) and Cymbals Eat Guitars -and they're [...]

More droning pop bliss from Omaha, Nebraska's Conduits in this live video for "Limbs and Leaves". Their self-titled debut album drops 3/20 on Team Love. Stream the previously posted " Top of the Hill ".

I fixed my tail light. It was a simple matter of checking the fuses, noting that the 8A fuse was blown, and swapping it out. Still having issues with the front indicator and running light, but thanks to the good folk at BMW 2002 FAQ, I should have it figured out in the near future. On to the show. Tonight's show was all about current favorites. I played a few tracks discovered within the last week, and several that have been in heavy rotation on my personal playlist of late. [...]

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. These are just a few of the songs that would get their own individual posts here on GIMME TINNITUS if I only had the time. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. Listen. Downloadables: Broken Chinese Chairz (mp3) by Ex Cops Reflection (mp3) by NT Fatherland (mp3) by Mr. Dream [...]
