What's the most annoying part of indie rock? Let's see . . . the clothes, the fans, the hair, the politics, the hideous girls, the clothes, pitchforkmedia.com , the clothes. The list goes on and on. In protest, or perhaps to convince myself it's really not that bad, I've decided to post three of my favorite songs of the last . . . um . . . 13 1/2 months. No, they're not THE 3 best songs of the year, but they're 3 songs that don't unman me when I listen to them. I can [...]

Nothing rings in the holiday season like some loud, sweaty Can-rock so with that in mind, courtesy of Against The Grain, I've got three pairs of passes to see Toronto's Constantines at Lee's Palace next week on December 1, with Toronto's Lullabye Arkestra and Haligonians Shotgun & Jaybird as support. To enter, email me at contests@chromewaves.net with "I want to see The Constantines" in the subject line and your full name in the email body. Then just sit back, cross your fingers and check your mail the morning [...]
Post Thanksgiving / Pre Sunday songs. strangely enough, I am looking for to monday morning, maybe this is my way to speed things up: the Constantines - Insectivora (live) Beirut - Closing Song (Live On KEXP) Tonight I am going to see Texas is the Reason reunion. Do I need to say more about that??

Thanks to being on innumerable mailing lists, an afternoon message announcing just released tickets to the long sold out Hold Steady show at the North Star Bar in Philly resulted in a score of a ticket for last night. It's no mistake that Boys and Girls In America is one of the most raved about discs of the year. The boys delivered one of the best rock shows I have seen in a long time. Their manic energy on stage never let up once for the full ninety minutes. It was also obvious that they were having FUN up there. [...]
Ok this is really exciting and also very important...Its that time of year again for " Neiles Life Year End Lists " A list of top albums and songs of 2006...Why so early?? Because I did my list for 2005 around this time last year. Actually it was November 24 of last year that I did my favourite albums of 2005...I believe its the best time to do these lists. A) Cause there isn`t a lot of good albums that come out in December anyway, except for those BullShit albums that the major labels push on us [...]
In this post I'll re-post some of the songs I've mentioned before in the blog or simply some of the stuff I've found that I find interesting, but have no time to write about. None of the songs are hosted by Myspace, which quickly is turning into a crappy service! IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED IF YOU'D CHECK OUT THE REST OF THIS BLOG, ONCE YOU'VE DOWNLOADED THE SONGS YOU WANT..... + Aberdeen City - God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me + [...]

{Another guest post, this time from Sean at A Reminder } On Ugly Album Covers and The Common Man While not a band that no-one has heard of, the Constantines are definitely a band that belong in more people's record collections. I was very late to the band only really checking them out shortly over a year ago when their most recent album, Tournament of Hearts was [...]
The magazine, The Believer, put out a great compilation CD in the summer last year, a comp that came with the summer issue of the magazine. Containing covers and nothing but, you were treated to Devendra Banhart covering Antony and the Johnsons "Fistfull of Love", the Mountain Goats version of Silver Jews "Pet Politics", and Canadian Jim Guthrie (Mr "Hands in My Pocket" himself) doing The

The first day on the job went well, I hope. I wrote my first little news piece this morning - here are excerpts . Earlimart - "We Drink On The Job": mp3 Cher: As if! This song wins the awards for Earlimart song that is most awesome and sounds the most like Broken Social Scene's "Stars and Sons." Great live band, if you ever get the chance. The Constantines - "Working Full-Time": mp3 Too bad the Cons don't have a song [...]
