If you haven't heard much about The Constellations, I'm sure you will soon. This eight-piece rock band hails from Atlanta, Georgia. The Constellations were named one of SPIN Magazine's "Must Hear Bands at SXSW" and PASTE's "Best of What's Next." Having just recently performed at SXSW and Bonnaroo, as well as being lined up to perform at Lollapalooza, this band is getting some excellent exposure in North America. Today marks the big label release of The Constellations ' Southern Gothic on Virgin Records. I can understand a fascination with down-and-out Romantic drunks like Bukowski, Kerouac, Fante, Rimbaud, and early Tom Waits characters. I get it. These gentlemen are all fantastic writers and character creators. As a writer and "artist" myself, there is some kind of draw to a life of "warm beer and cold women", as Mr. Waits says. The sort of dirty, gritty, unseemly underbelly of life can draw out the greatest sort of inspiration.
