Saturday at Tramlines comes with a whole load more excitement. The main stage today features charting stars as well as up and coming artists , but I'm more focused on what's effectively the second stage in the Nando's-sponsored New Music Stage. The first band I see, however, really put a dampener on the scorching weather. Eagulls are offensive on the eyes and ears today with a Liam Gallagher meets Sid Vicious 20-something man yelling at people in the form of what I suppose he'll call lyrics. The crowd [...]

The wonderful, confusing deluge of music which greets us every time we turn on our computers might have revolutionised our listening experiences immeasurably, but it's also had a rather unfortunate side effect. The mind-boggling ease of access we have to basically every record ever made means that bands no longer seem to have anywhere near as much space to fuck up early in their careers. Radiohead were allowed Pablo Honey , Sonic Youth took a few records to really find themselves, hell it took Pulp over a decade to make their best music. Nowadays though, we seem to expect bands to [...]

If we hadn't had as much faith in Copy Haho as we do, we would have suspected that their debut album was going to be crushed under the weight of expectation. After all, it's been almost two-and-a-half years since their wonderful EP 'Bred for Skills and Magic' was introduced to the world. In that time, the band haven't released very much. There was a single last year: 'Wrong Direction' is one of only two 'old songs' that the band chose for the album. So that's two things that [...]
Copy Haho 's solitary single and subsequent debut EP in 2007 announced them as a band very much worth keeping an eye on. A young bunch from Stonehaven who sculpted that perennial Scottish trait of discontent, and small town discontent at that, into a flickering wall of intricate guitar lines and stuttering drums propelled by Joe Hearty's downtrodden but strangely optimistic observations on life, love and elusive happiness. So now that small town life has been replaced by life on tour and long overdue album recording sessions, is there any chance they've become a touch less bleak? [...]
Stream: Copy Haho - S/T : MFM has just learned that the brilliant self-titled record from Copy Haho , which we've been enjoying for a few weeks now, has been pushed back to July 4th. This is a bit of a shame, but to make up for that, our good buddies over at The Line of Best Fit are streaming it, in full, two weeks before release. Here's hoping you like it as much as we do.

Artist: Copy Haho Title: Copy Haho Label: Slow Learner BUY IT I first heard Copy Haho at SWN Festival in 2009, supporting Danananaykroyd and Los Campesinos!. The venue was a church that had been turned into an arts centre, and the stage was not much higher than the audience. Despite the fact that the venue was nowhere near as packed as it would [...]

Copy Haho have finally released details of their debut full length! After years of waiting, June 20th is the day we will see the self-titled album come to life. The band had this to say about the record: "'Copy Haho' was recorded outside Glasgow at Chemikal Underground's Chem19 studios – home to recordings by Life Without Buildings, Arab Strap, the Delgados and Mogwai to name but four. Songs: Ohia is another one. Produced with Jamie Savage (The Phantom Band, James Yorkston…) and mixed by Simon Ward of Errors, the band were more-than-keen to [...]

June 20th is set to be an important day for Scottish indie troop Copy Haho - it'll mark the release of the bands debut album. Here's what the band had to say about the recording of the forthcoming album: "We recorded the album at Chemikal Underground's Chem19 studios outside Glasgow, in Scotland. It was recorded with Jamie Savage ( The Phantom Band , James Yorkston …) and was mixed by Simon Ward (of Errors ). Michael Marshall played viola on the album. Thanks, Michael. The album is being released [...]

Long-time favourites amongst the TLOBF ranks, it's taken Copy Haho a fair amount of time to get around to the recording of album number 1. With just an EP and single under their belts since we 'Introduced' them back in 2008, what exactly have they been doing with their time? One thing's for sure, this studio diary isn't going to tell you. However, if you want to read about their crazy tales of debauchery, tooth-ache and overflowing urinals then you've come to the right place. If you missed part 1, [...]

With just a handful of tracks in my possession I think it is fair to say Oscar Charlie have kept me guessing since I first heard them at the start of this year. Hailing from the Shetland Isles, but recently relocated to Glasgow, the band's synth heavy songs weren't what I was expecting when I [...]

Rewind about 2 months. I find myself at the Botanique in Brussels once again, excited to see both Copy Haho and L os Campesinos! later that evening. Make that SUPER excited, LC! are my favourite band for a reason. It's the last evening of their tour in mainland Europe so both bands give it their all. It would be an understatement to say they didn't disappoint. In my top 3 of gigs so far this year. A couple of hours before the gig I meet up with Joe (second from the right on [...]

Glasgow's Errors are in France, the Netherlands and Germany this week and Vic has picked their show in Paris with Brooklyn's Bear in Heaven as the Scottish international gig of the week. Vic has more on Errors below along with the only listing of every Scottish gig outside the UK this week: Errors in Paris with [...]

Copy Haho I should pay more attention to this band to be honest, I mean, he's standing on a car! Their album 'Bred for Skills & Magic' is great; it runs along at a brisk and agile pace, yet a hastiness that many of us can keep up with. Regrettably on a few occasions you might be able to guess the next turning, the next direction, but for me that's just comforting; sometimes I don't feel like being pushed [...]
Like many expat Scots, I find myself talking about Scotland a lot. And aside from the standard conversations about golf, whisky or Braveheart the subject of Scottish music frequently arises. In the past, when band names alone were not enough to impress certain people, I would end up making them a mixtape or cd. These days [...]
