Javelin - Nnormal [mp3] (from High Beams , out now on Luaka Bop ) In comparison with their previous music/sample collages, New England cousins George Langford and Tom Van Buskirk evolve more consistent from on their new full length, Hi Beams . The songs are more holistic and uniform, though they still celebrate the Providence, RI noise-art aesthetic. [...]

Simply: free albums. Merry Christmas. Don't usually do this, but realized there were a few that I have the go ahead to do this for, so here they are. Best of 2010 #6. No band does what the Corespondents do. Being ominous while being playful, employing kitsch while not being kitschy, being so accesible while still being experimental. Their first full length since the addition of Kieran Harrison-Buehlinger and their evolution from ambient band to party band, Ur is an incredibly solid album and serves as an amazing soundtrack to a great variety of situations. I don't usually have much care for fanciful guitar work, but with the Corespondents there is no wanking, no unnecessary notes, and this impresses me. Combine this with interesting rhythms and a [...]

Found this video from Seattle's Corespondents and decided to post it up, since it gives me an opportunity to say that they might be coming through yr city or town in the not-too-distant future. While they've been a staple of the Seattle music scene for years, they'll be hitting the road at the beginning of September for their first ever tour. So the world (or at least the west coast) will finally get to see the goodness they are. Corespondents- Demon Mustache (off of Ur )

I got to see Judson Claiborne for two nights in Seattle. And you didn’t. If I sound a bit like a child brandishing my ice cream cone while you have none, well… this is how I felt after hearing this Chicago-based group play both the Can Can at Pike Place and The Sunset Tavern in Ballard. Remarkably, both shows were sparsely attended. Whether this was due to weather or the weeknight, it didn’t matter; the music they shared felt like a treat just for me. [...]

Written by Fense My love, how I miss thee. Were I capable of poetry, words would stream onto the page like none other. They would cover it front to back, emphasizing how I hate being away from your side each and every week, away from your scent and away from you arms. It is a curse. A travesty! And I am stricken. Love will make you do crazy things, like miss the Cumulus Music Festival, which debuts on the streets of Seattle tomorrow and features Beast, Please Be Still [...]
