The Corin Tucker Band are back for a pair of shows this week! If you can't make it to their show tonight at The Satellite, you can see The Corin Tucker Band live to kick off this weekend on Friday,...

[It's not only Cinco de Mayo, but it's Adele's birthday. Best wishes, and here's what's up tonight ...] Great night ahead: ► It's that time of the month: The Rumble hits the Echo tonight, topped by two SoCal bands who released fine debut albums already this year. Apex Manor's pop-rock gem "The Year of Magical Drinking" came out in January on Merge; the Fling's harmony-laden "Then the Madhouses Appear" is just out [...]
Former Sleater-Kinney riot grrrl, Corin Tucker , slays it on 'A Thousand Eyes.' The song is brash, and Tucker's vocals are intensely good. The guitar solo kills, too. Stream 'A Thousand Eyes' below:

Filed under: News , Exclusive , Television IFC When ' Saturday Night Live ' cast member Fred Armisen and former Sleater-Kinney guitarist Carrie Brownstein 's IFC sketch comedy show ' Portlandia ' premiered on Jan. 21, real-life Portland mayor Sam Adams officially declared it "Portlandia Day" in the city. This week, it was announced that the show has been been picked up for a second season, so Brownstein has [...]

Leading global provider of specialized transportation and logistics services. Ever true to its humble origins, UPS maintains its reputation for integrity, reliability, employee ownership, and customer service. I find this quote extremely entertaining. You'd think that delivering a package, a small one at that, from London to Paris would be one of the easiest tasks for a a company that specializes in delivery, but somehow UPS found a way to: 1. Forget my package in their warehouse 2. Send my package to Germany 3. Not find the address in Paris 4. Take a week instead [...]

While on tour in support of her new album, 1,000 Years , Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker and her band have added a few cuts that didn't appear on her debut solo LP — all hailing from the early 80s/late 70s — to their live repertoire: Elvis Costello's 1979 Armed Forces track "Party Girl," Sheila E.'s Prince-penned 1984 hit "The Glamorous Life," and 1980 Au Pairs tune "It's Obvious." Plenty of grainy videos have been floating around the Web of these live covers, but only recently did some closeup, quality footage arrive. Watch Tucker and friends rock [...]
When you walk away from a band that Griel Marcus once dubbed "the best rock and roll band in America," people can get a bit antsy when you go almost completely off the radar for five years afterward. Yet, that's exactly what Corin Tucker did when Sleater-Kinney took a still-ongoing break in 2006. Her first [...]

Longtime Sleater-Kinney fans who haven't heard Corin Tucker 's new 1,000 Years prior to tonight's show should probably give it a listen. After all, just seeing Tucker on stage without S-K guitarist Carrie Brownstein and drummer Janet Weiss will be enough of a shock as it is. But when Tucker shows off her significantly more subtle side—as she does throughout 1,000 Years —anyone expecting more fiery guitars and wailing vocals will be in for a big surprise. After spending most of the four years that followed Sleater-Kinney's breakup taking care of some family business, Tucker has [...]
Fill in the Blanks with Corin Tucker "Back in 2006, singer/guitarist Corin Tucker stepped away from Sleater-Kinney...to focus on motherhood. Two kids and four years later she's returned with a fantastic (if not quite as searing as S-K's output) solo debut, 1,000 Years, and a tour with her three-piece backing band—featuring members of Unwound and Golden Bears—that comes to Philly this week. We caught up with Tucker over the phone from her home in Portland, Ore., for a 'Fill in the Blanks' session." (Philadelphia Weekly) New [...]
It seems pretty unfair both that it's impossible not to think about Sleater-Kinney on the release of The Corin Tucker Band's debut and that this isn't a Sleater-Kinney record. I mean, by so many accounts, there are no hard feelings between Tucker and former bandmates Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss. And it's not like Brownstein and Weiss are exactly sitting around on their hands , waiting for the purported reunion sometime in the next five years . But seeing as this is a solid if not exciting record (nothing groundbreaking, nothing that [...]

On Friday, I made the drive down to Seattle to catch a couple of shows. The first, was at the Showbox Market for Corin Tucker 's first tour post-Sleater-Kinney. The show was a lot like the album; if you were expecting S-K, you probably came away disappointed, but taken on its own merits, it was pretty great. Since 1,000 Years is her solo debut, she played it (I think) in its entirety, with lead off single "Doubt" being the predictable highlight. The encore was made up of a trio [...]

The Corin Tucker Band - Doubt I might be a little biased with this one. My love for Sleater-Kinney will never die, if you find yourself in a similar state and have a little time on your hands while you wait for the reunion, you should go to Kill Rock Stars and download a free copy of the above or better yet, buy the album 1,000 Trees. That should be enough to fill the empty place in your heart where Corin Tucker's voice once resided but if [...]
im so disappointed in myself at the moment cause i really havent given corin's recently released 1,000 years a true proper listen as of yet. ive had it playing while the kids were screaming about something or other, but just havent been able to nail down a solitary moment to take it all in, uninterrupted. maybe this weekend. you can purchase it via kill rock stars, here . if you buy the lp, you get an immediate mp3 download of the record. so, why the hell not get the lp, that is if you have a functioning [...]
![The Corin Tucker Band – 1,000 Years [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2876298_lg.jpg)
Good for Corin Tucker. She could have easily released an album that sounded just like Sleater-Kinney and most people, including myself, would have wet their pants in excitement. But Corin chose to branch out and work with a new sonic palette. That's not to say that 1,000 Years is a salsa or hip-hop album. Corin still stands at the forefront, but maybe time as a stay-at-home mom has altered her perception of life (I know I am changed forever when my wife leaves town for a weekend). This quote sums the album up nicely: "That's the artistic, itchy [...]
The ailin', wailin' frontwoman of the legendary Olympia outfit Sleater-Kinney has a new band. It's called the Corin Tucker Band (natch) and they have a record that came out on Tuesday with the handle 1,000 Years . Early on, it was billed as a solo project, but Tucker is joined it seems by Sara Lund (Unwound) on drums and Seth Lorinczi (Golden Bears) on guitar; some other dude bounces the bass. She probably just writes all the music. Kill Rock Stars sent out an .mp3 and a video with their mailer [...]
