We premiere a smoking hot track from Cornershop's new remix album.

WHEN it comes to time signatures for modern music, it seems hard to beat 4:4 time. Four beats in a bar dominates the charts - so I thought I would waltz through my collection and try to find a few 3:4 tracks. No doubt some more musically-minded than me will point out how most of these probably don't count due to changing time signatures, or compound time, or whatever. But I reckon it's just nice to move to a different beat for once. Suggest any others in the comments below!

We thought this Chris Curtis-directed video for "Every Year So Different" by Cornershop featuring TRWBADOR was an appropriate choice for the Christmas installment of Film At 11. Says Curtis of the clip, "The song inspired me to go down a rabbit hole of bygone bucolic happenings and into the inner mind of a cuckoo-clock jukebox. [...]
Let’s not beat about the Holly, this track was first teamed up with Sinéad O’Connor, but when Rolling Stone premiered it and Hot Press put it forward for Christmas No.1 to challenge X-factor she declined any involvement in it. So Cornershop quickly moved their boat back from Irish shores towards Wales to collaborate with the much favoured, up and coming Trwbador , to create another song that sticks in your head like a Christmas day dessert and one to set you up with all the wholesome goodness you need for the year ahead. [...]

If you walk down the seasonal aisle at your local grocer or CVS, you'll see 'tis the season. Even our friends across the pond have noticed, and UK indie outfit Cornershop is already celebrating. The Tjinder Singh-led band has released the first entry in the latest incarnation of their Singhles Club , and it's primed for the holidays. First launched in 2011, the Club features six "digital inch" releases available individually or as part of a $9.60 (£6) subscription. Kicking off the newest [...]

Remember Cornershop? (Yeah these guys). I'd be lying if I didn't say I was surprised to find that they were still on the go, I'm sure I'm not on my own. That said, it is a pleasant surprise. Their new single 'Who's Gonna Lite Up (ft. Izzy Lindqwister)' is magnificent fusion of rocking riffs, funky percussive's [...]

This is a cheeky little free download from Tal M. Klein as he feeds his Cornershop obsession while also bursting out some acid at the same time. Acid pop maybe be what its should be called but it's leftfield and it's great! You can pick up the whole EP at Juno right now.

WICKED VIDEO FROM LONDON'S CORNERSHOP! www.cornershop.com I GUESS THIS VIDEO CAME OUT A FEW MONTHS AGO IN SUPPORT OF THE SINGLE RELEASE AND I SLEPT ON IT...BUT HERE IT IS FINALLY, IN ALL IT'S FUNKY, HIP HOP GLORY! It's Friday, and we're back with another installment of our regular roundup of downloadable MP3 goodness from around the web. This week there's a track from Flavorpill favorite John Maus' new rarities compilation, a collaboration between The Soft Moon and Ultravox's John Foxx, a live Light Asylum recording, brooding techno from Yakine, a surprisingly good synth track from John of Peter Bjorn & John, an entire sampler for Cornershop's record label, and plenty of other good stuff besides. In other words, there's plenty of interesting sounds awaiting you after the jump, and since they won't cost a penny or land [...]

Legendary Brit band Cornershop have written some notable tunes in their day. What's more is that they also know a thing or two about remixes. Case in point is Fatboy Slim's classic remix of "Brimful of Asha" back in the day that blew up and helped elevate the tune to classic status. Today the band released their new album, Urban Turban , and they've made Tal M. Klein's remix of "Solid Gold" exclusive to Big Shot readers. "My approach to the remix was to start by dusting off some old drum machines [...]

Over the past few years, Cornershop have been working under their own UK-based label Ample Play , whose excerpt explains that they are "purveyors of independent music but not plinky plonky independent music." On May 15th, the band returns to Ample Play to release their 7th career LP, Urban Turban: The Singhles Club. Guitarist, keyboardist, tamboura player, and founding member of Cornershop Ben Ayres put together this playlist for us, of which he said ,"If there is a theme it's probably 'movement' in the political, emotional and transit sense." Check out the liner notes below, and the listen to the [...]

A pair of duos top this week's list of new releases. Baltimore's Beach House (Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand) have undoubtedly the most anticipated release out this week, if not this year, with their second Sub Pop released LP, and if you thought 20102s Teen Dream was beautiful, wait until you hear Bloom . Our Music Director, Don Yates, calls it a "breakthrough" with its "gorgeously layered, reverb-drenched sound combining celestial keyboards, shimmering guitars, ethereal vocals and sublime pop melodies into heartbreakingly beautiful pop songs." For more "heart-tugging, mostly melancholy songs," check out the latest [...]

Welcome to another edition of our regular Monday stream-a-thon, wherein we hunt down the best and/or most notable records streaming for free over the Internet. This week, there’s the arrival of the new Abba-inspired Gossip album (but wait, it's better than that description might suggest). There's also a new record from Flavorpill faves Cornershop, a surprisingly deep and interesting new album from Simian Mobile Disco, reflective melancholia from Mount Eerie and Cold Specks, and a proper stream for the Garbage album. Click through and listen to your heart’s content! [...]
It's always double jolz when the end of the work day is greeted with an impressive mp3. Triple surprising for me ears that said toon is a new one from the CORNERSHOP , featuring vox from Swedish born, French residing she-singer, the IZZY LINDQWISTER. Had to google that's who she be is kinda sounds like a porn name imho. And now for the psychedelic, under the sea, video for WHO'S GONNA LITE UP, packed with rainbow jellyfish and neon-haired mermaids. Bless.

"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." -Willy Wonka The Big Pink - "Lose Your Mind" What starts out as a black and white montage of The Big Pink brooding against a huge slab of concrete, quickly turns into a migraine-induducing rave scene. That's one way to find your sanity I guess. Cornershop feat. Izzy Lindqwister – “Who’s Gonna Lite It Up” Here, Cornershop prove that it doesn't take a huge budget to turn the deep sea into a [...]
What: British indie rock outfit Cornershop present life under the psychedelic sea, complete with rainbow jellyfish and neon-haired mermaids playing guitar, in the music video for "Who's Gonna Lite It Up". Sort of makes even the more frightening parts of The Little Mermaid seem a little easier to handle. The band's latest album, Urban Turban , is due out May 15th via Ample Play. Directed by: Vidya Sharma & Rajesh Thomas (of Rocket Science Films)

Film maker Astrid Edwards ' latest work should have by no means flown under your radar. She recently directed and shot the mesmerising new video to Cornershop 's 'Milkin' It' (featuring guest vocalist Light of Aquarius), in which she documents and offers insight into the East Oakland, California dance style known as turf dancing. Turf dancing is a complex homemade brew of breakdancing, ballet and tutting and is usually done in response to a young friend dying - an RIP dance. The video features turf dancers ENinja and Chonkie F Tutz of [...]
