Following in Schonberg's footsteps I attempted to buy 12 albums during 2011. Did I do it? Well as I type this I honestly don't know, so together let's have a look at the albums I bought and see how I got on. As I think it will be close, I'm going to count all albums I bought, whether they were released in 2011 or not - I may revise this if I easily make it! [...]

With probably the longest entry of 2011 we give the floor to regular MM contributor and top ten compiler...Dr Roddy. Well it seems to be that time of year again. I always spend 340 days looking forward to doing this and 25 agonising over it. This year especially though, as I think there has been a bumper harvest of great songs. When I looked at my Top Ten playlist (with over 100 songs in it) I just thought one thing: bugger! I got there in the end though. There have been certain parties that have tried [...]
Following from The Best Music Videos of 2011, Christmas is All Around and Christmas Is All Around – The Mixtape (not end of the year lists, but something to check out..) posted a few days ago comes The Best Albums of 2011! 2011 was a great music year and resulted in some pretty good releases. So, to keep on making this intro short; [...]

Complete with a reggae vibe, Cosmo Jarvis ' latest has the potential to get annoying quickly - but for now, at least, it works perfectly as a sweet, slow sashay up through the Sunday morning gears. [There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.]
[Gotcha Covered] - Cosmo Jarvis covers Grateful Dead // A new favourite covering an old favourite… Jarvis delivers a fine version of the Dead's Friend Of The Devil from their album American Beauty (1970).
Cosmo Jarvis released his new album 'Is the World Strange or Am I Strange' earlier this month. Up next for him is 'She Doesn't Mind', a new single out on the 20th of November. There's always a bit of humour in Cosmo's videos, and this promo will make you laugh. You can grab the song for free from this previous MP3 of the Day post. Click here to view the embedded video.
Nowadays, pop music has plenty of weirdness to it (See: Gwar, all screamo bands). It also has enough singer-songwriters to fill a million coffee shops. But rare is the artist who is really weird and still wonderfully talented. Cue New Jersey-born, England-raised artist Cosmo Jarvis . Already something of a big deal in the UK , Jarvis returns with his sophomore album, a wacky, emotionally resonant collection of songs with the best kind of musical ADHD out there. Defining Jarvis isn't overly difficult, but doing so feels as if you're limiting something truly [...]

Cosmo Jarvis -Is the World Strange, Or Am I Strange? // Dear Friday, you're sure as hell not Jesus but you're saving me. And there is more, much much more, where this quirky little ditty came from. With 270 songs and 65 films under his belt, this 22-year old Brit is the full indie package. Cosmo Jarvis is an accomplished filmmaker in the midst of producing his first feature, a talented musician and composer, and a live theatrical extraordinaire. His innately crude British humor offers a [...]

It's another week in the modern music world, and videos continue to drop like the leaves. Some of our favorite rappers put out some new visuals this week, some indie gems were able to shine through, and America's favorite (not so) single lady, Beyonce, showed everyone that she's still "a whole lot of woman." Now that the internet has taken over the music video industry, we all don't have to wait for a video to pop up during steady rotation. It's available at the click of a button. And as always, we here at Cluster 1 want you to be [...]

Some people just aren't satisfied giving their music over to others to craft music videos. New Jersey-born, England-raised Cosmo Jarvis found his way around this by putting himself both behind and in front of the camera. The whimsical singer-songwriter-director first pulled this feat for his hilarious, creative, and poignant "Gay Pirates" clip, and he's done it again with his latest single, "She Doesn't Mind". In the clip, our boy Jarvis has met an unbelievably wonderful woman-like, actually unbelievable. She's apparently a trombonist, an accomplished author, multilingual, a Nobel laureate for fixing global warming over breakfast, [...]

Cosmo Jarvis ( facebook / twitter ) is somewhat of an odd character. We had the joy of having his energetic and musically experimental set as part of our showcase in Dingwalls back in May, and now he's followed up the wonderful Sure As Hell Not Jesus EP with a full length in Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange. My favourites from his Jesus EP have made the moves onto the EP - Gay Pirates is an amusing cheery sing-a-long sea-shanty, and Sure As Hell Not Jesus is still on the money with [...]

Cosmo Jarvis is certainly an interesting artist. He's not one to allow himself to be pigeonholed into a particular genre and this is extremely evident on his second album Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange? . In fact the only thing that you can say for definite about him through this, is just how socially conscious he is; a fact which is unsurprising to anyone who's heard him before. When then listening to the album, then, it is important to understand that this is an artist not bound by specific musical genres as most [...]

Cosmo Jarvis - Is the World Strange or am I Strange? 8/10 Cosmo Jarvis poses a question with the title of his sophomore album, and by the time I had listened through I was left thinking that both the latter and former were the case. This is a real mish mash of styles, from 'Gay Pirates' with its Adam and The Ants meets Mumford and Sons personality, which though it should sound terrible by that description ends up working rather well. Cosmo has always struck [...]
..by Neil Diamond. It's beautiful. New month, new news, new bands (yay!), updates and more stuff! Check out other roundups here! Montpelier - 'China Shop' Brisbane's Montpelier have been busy in the studio recording their upcoming debut album, set for a 2012 release. The latest taster from the album is 'China Shop'; a beautiful folky [...]

You may already be aware of Cosmo Jarvis . Perhaps you heard his debut single from a couple of years ago, "She's Got You"; maybe you were alerted to his talents at the beginning of this year, when Stephen Fry tweeted to his multitude of followers that Cosmos' "Gay Pirates" single was 'wonderful' - he was right; it's possible you've seen Cosmo supporting Muse, Gabriella Cilmi, Panic! At The Disco or Reverend & The Makers. Whatever, the 22 year old from New Jersey is about to drop his second album, Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange? [...]
Click image to download track Sounds like: Alex Winston, Jinja Safari, Anni Rossi "Cosmo Jarvis - She Doesn't Mind" What's so good? Is it reggae? Is it ska? Is it folk? Is it just indie pop with a twist? Cosmo Jarvis is a great many things, and he particularly excels at genre-bending. His new single "She Doesn't Mind" perfectly combines elements of the aforementioned genres [...]
Cosmo Jarvis ' new one is called 'She Doesn't Mind'. It's a funky, if slow number and RCRD LBL is giving it away. How great is that? Listen to it and download it below. His second album, entitled 'Is the World Strange or Am I Strange', will be released in early October.

With Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange? due to drop on the 26th of September, Cosmo Jarvis has released the video for 'My Day', a frenetic call to arms and nostalgia, which retains the urgency of his earlier works whilst charting his aural progression to an established electric artist, away from his previous acoustic roots. If anything, it marks the continuation of Cosmo's refusal to be inihibited by labels and genre, whilst the ludicrous video perfectly fits the idealism and energy of the track.
The video for Cosmo Jarvis ' 'My Day', Cosmo self-describes the premise like this: This kind of song didn't need a story element to it. Would have been too easy to show everything im describing in the lyrics literally, so I thought this would sit better as a visual accompaniment. The seasoning. He's always followed the beat of a different drummer...but do you like this one? Tell us in the comments. Click here to view the embedded video.
