With Labor Day coming up, and Hopscotch happening next week, this weekend is somewhat light on shows. But the shows that are happening are definitely worth your time. On Thursday, Sept. 1, Cough, MAKE and Swordasters of Ginaz will be at Casbah. I don't know anything about the Swordmasters, but Cough and MAKE have consistently been two of my favorite doomy bands over the past year. Below is a new music video for the track "Peter Perez" from lo-fi experimental artist Cough Cool a.k.a. Dan Svizeny, which premiered today via YVYNYL . It's a trippy muscle-bound concoction from Berlin-based video artist Will Rockel (a.k.a. monfieur) that he teamed-up with via the magical powers of the internet. The track will be on Cough Cools debut Untitled LP , which will be out on vinyl via Bathetic Records. Dan Svizeny chooses to make his home in New Hope, on the PA side of the river, but he reps South Jersey. A graduate of TCNJ, he lists Springsteen as his greatest influence, his blog posts frequently dissect the intricacies of the Garden State, and he seems to almost single-handedly hold down the Trenton music scene. Perhaps his most well-known work is with the band Blackhawks, a psychedelic indie-rock group inspired by the logo of the Chicago hockey team.
