French producer Dandy Teru probably would have never came up on our radar if it wasn't for features from the likes of Moka Only, Rita J, Count Bass D and more. But, luckily, we dove into his new album Adventures, and we were captivated by some incredibly deep grooves. The first thing the listener will undoubtedly notice is Teru's lounge sensibility, driven by infectious bass lines that leave way for the wide range of vocalists that he chooses. This week's cutie is not new, but still amazing. It's DISTRAKT and our mate COUNT BASS D in a sick sci-fi journey.
We reckon Count Bass D is one of the most underappreciated producers around and has been for a long time. Unfortunately we hadn't heard much of his music from the last couple of years because
We're still not entirely sure of the identity of West Coast producer Whoarei —makes his alias even more fitting, right?—but we are sure that dude's killin' it on the production tip. His latest project, Cause Chao s , is equal parts dusty boom-bap and low-key funk. It boasts eight new tracks in total with two of them featuring choice guest rappers in Jeremiah Jae and Count Bass D , both of whom kill it. Stream and/or download the EP below. In 2006, I was featured on DJ A To The L's "Spam Filters" Mixtape, hosted by the one and only "rapper with the most chords" Count Bass D. It was a major honor to say the least. I did this chop when I was living in the Bay, Union City, CA to be exact. One of my faaaaavorite Marvin Gaye songs, I been wearing it out for years, so the chop came to me naturally, after years of honing the skill set of course. This was before I moved to El Ay, years after the shoulder-length dredlocks and Tascam four [...]

The Great Truth by Lejend The Great Truth is a passionate and introspective piece of work. It embodies the raw energy of early nineties hip hop but the contemporary elegance of new age hip hop. With the lead single produced by Count Bass D and featuring Original Soul, it takes you back to the golden era of hip hop without sounding dated as O Soul and Lejend trade 162s about their musical prowess and pursuits. Tracks like "Prosper" and "Hiatus", two of the album's highlights, produced by Jlew [...]
