In order to fully appreciate this track you must be in a complete state of bliss, and/or in a completely chilled out state of mind. Counting, is the falsetto executed love song filled with ambient sounds and energy waves alongside quirky brass work that not only makes it eery in a way we love, but also as abstract as the lyrics, which we also adore. The song is a plea for artist Autre Ne Veut' s (Arthur Ashin) dying grandmother to stay alive. It is sad and profound, yet simple and loving much like an opera [...]

B3SCI has teamed up with the good peeps at Danger Village to drop this exclusive mix of their choice Spring 2013 worthy jams. Owner Beth Martinez curates the mix track by track below. Hibernation doesn't stand a chance. 1) holychild “Best Friends” This song sets the tone perfectly for what I want to come across in this mix. For spring we’re looking to brighter, organic sounds threaded through with good feelings of friendship and laughter. Shifting away from the electronic-heavy vibes of the last mix, this song [...]

"I want no other", the French translation of Arthur Ashin's stage name, speaks volumes about the overall tone of his music. Operating out of Brooklyn, NY, Ashin blends R&B with ambient soul-pop, exploring themes of human instinct and raw emotion. "Counting", a track from his recent LP Anxiety , is a perfect example. You have to be in a certain frame of mind to absorb Arthur's sounds, though they deserve notable mention nonetheless.
The delicate beats and haunting falsetto of Autre Ne Veut's "Counting" mark the components of a great new artist. Autre Ne Veut is Brooklyn's Arthur Ashin, and while he actually just released his sophomore LP, Anxiety, it wasn't until now that he's truly established a worthy signature sound. Fans of M83 will find much to love about Ashin's distant, dreamy, emotional creations.
In the past couple of years, R&B has found itself developing a strange relationship between its cold, technological, 80s self and its soulful Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye past. That combination has led to albums from the likes of Frank Ocean and The Weeknd receiving critical and commercial success, bringing R&B back from its mid-20002s malaise and creating a path for its future. In the meantime, Arthur Ashin's Autre Ne Veut [...]
Despite having released a debut album a few years ago, Arthur Ashin, a.k.a. Autre Ne Veut , didn't really get any sort of attention until last year's stunning single, "Counting" , a future R&B jam mourning the passing of his grandmother (an almost-literal video featuring Mykki Blanco was also released). With a song like that and a sophomore album titled Anxiety , one could only assume what the lyrical content could be about. Having been listening to the album for about a [...]
Earlier today, Chicago artist Star Barksdale dropped his Play Time's Over mixtape, which included 15 new tracks. One of the standouts from Star's project, was his collaboration with the G Count of the L.E.P. Bogus Boys entitled "Come Up." Hey, that's what we're all trying to do, right? Download the entire mixtape right here.
For a self-professed Ghetto Bass advocate more commonly associated with Affie Yusuf than Austra ; his longstanding counterpart Sinden than moody Bristolians Seasfire, Save Me is quite something. Joshua Harvey, aka The Count , aka Hervé releases his latest full-length, The Art Of Disappearing , this coming spring and whilst house has been his bread and club his butter since the later naughties, if Save Me is anything to go by then he is to sheath the breakfast knives and instead pick up a directly incisive proclivity for those more intensely affecting strands of electronica. A [...]

It's a very special week for Sodwee's Sundaze Playlist #34 . We have asked one of our mates, and rising illustrator Paul Grelet to give the cover art a shot. And blimey did he deliver. Not only the tunes we have on offer this week are just mind-blowing, and I mark my words for each one of them, they are available as a free ZIP download when you like our Facebook page. We'll have another amazing artwork from Paul next week too illustrating Sundaze #35 [...]
Not often do I feel triggered to write an article about a video for a song that I’ve already written about. This week I felt like writing about a already posted song’s new video twice. I had it with the video for Earl Sweatshirt 's Chum but decided not to write about it, but perhaps I’ll do it this weekend. I also had it with the video for Autre Ne Veut ’s Counting and here I am writing about it. Why this one? First of all it’s [...]

Back in 2010 Autre Ne Veut released his debut self-titled album, an arrestingly unique R&B lo-fi-pop album, treading ground that The Weeknd would later go on to cultivate. Two years on and he's about to drop the followup, Anxiety , due out in February, and on the albums debut track "Counting" he's enlisted Mykki Blanco for a verse in the song and an appearance in the video. The song is about his fear of [...]
I'm a big fan of L.E.P. Bogus Boys. Word is that Count and Moonie are in Atlanta right now, putting the finishing touches on their new project. While we haven't gotten any new music from L.E.P. in a minute, we do have something new featuring Count, as he hops on the title track for Young TeeTee's new mixtape, Don't Fuck Up Da Re-Up . The song is solid, dark and moody production in which Tee and Count both spit street narratives. This is what you'd expect from Count, and it does a little something to [...]

It is a natural progression of music, genre lines blurring. So, I can't say that I'm too surprised that Autre Ne Veut's song, "Counting," mixes soul, electronic, hip-hop and the bold, characterless genre indie rock. What does surprise me is, they totally pull it off, converging into quite a delectable joint. Enjoy below.
As I stated this morning in the article about Inc.’s 5 days , lots of good music nowadays features men singing falsettos. That’s usually not a problem to me, as I like most of that music, and it isn’t a problem this time. Autre Ne Veut is one of the artists that has been in the ‘falsetto’ R&B scene for quite some time releasing his self-titled debut album in 2010 already and I’m happy to see he’s working on his second full length album. His new single Counting feels like a busy painting [...]
