MTV reports that President Obama has "a wish list " of campaign supporters for his upcoming 2012 run for re-election and points to a document obtained by The Tennessean . The list includes, among others, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Jay-Z, The Roots, Counting Crows (?), the Band Perry (??) and a boatload of other celebs, CEOs, musicians and Jonas Brothers. According to MTV, the Obama camp has not confirmed (or denied!) any of this, so keep that in mind as you scan this random smattering of a list. Despite the image, Lil [...]

It's hard for friends to understand when I try explaining to them this absolute nausea I feel about New Year's Eve. I go out, I appreciate being around the friends... I'm happy enjoying the moment with them, yet in the back of my mind is a swelling sadness, a wave so huge that by the [...]
From Counting Crows songwriter and guitarist Dan Vickrey comes Tender Mercies , a self-titled album chockfull of country-rock goodness. Opener "Safe and Sound" kicks off with warm guitar and gentle vocals that catch and hang on the long notes, an accurate sample of what's to come. There's nothing particularly innovative here, but that's not to say that the album isn't good. On the contrary, Tender Mercies is an easy listen, sliding through your speakers on smooth guitar and a touch of late afternoon sunshine. There are some country-style lyrics [...]

Apparently Snow Patrol's "Run" isn't the only surprise cover version we'll be hearing from Leona Lewis. In the interim between her fall single "Collide" and her upcoming third album (due out in March 2012), the UK songbird will release Hurt: The EP this Friday (December 9) — in the UK, at least — according to Amazon UK . Included on it are the following covers: Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt", Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" and Counting Crows' "Colorblind". Who knew Leona had such eclectic taste?

Dan Vickrey has been the lead guitar player and backup vocalist for the Counting Crows since the band's first tour in the early 90's. He's received co-writing credit on many of their songs, including Accidentally in Love, for which he was nominated for an Oscar and a Grammy. He recently released a CD with a side project, called Tender Mercies, on the label Collective Sounds. Vickrey was interviewed by Mitchel Hochberg on Politricks, a political talk show that covers politicians' tricks with conversation and humor. The interview covered a wind range of topics, including Tender Mercies, Counting Crows, and, of [...]

On Further Review by Tom Sweeney A BEST OF 2011 ALBUM SELECTION - Most records burdened with taglines like "20 years in the making" are reunions, long-lost tapes or overblown box sets. There's a pretty good chance you've never heard of Tender Mercies, as this is their first album, and yet in a sense it belongs in two times; with a foot both in 1993 [...]

This is the Blu-Ray version of the August and Everything After: Live at Town Hall performance that was released in August of this year. Key tracks on this recording include Round Here, Mr. Jones, Rain King, and A Murder of One. The Counting Crows pull out a number of less-remembered songs with this recording, which [...]
An album that's been 20 years in the making, Tender Mercies' debut has finally come to fruition. Consisting of Counting Crows members Jim Bogios and Dan Vickrey, along with Patrick Winningham and Kurt Stevenson, the Tender Mercies have released an alt/country album that is rich in both substance and style. Actually formed before his time with the Crows, Tender Mercies took a backseat after guitarist Dan Vickrey was recruited to play alongside Duritz and co., and even though the seeds were planted, a proper release from them wouldn't emerge for another two decades. Given how consistently busy the [...]

Counting Crows celebrate independence from Geffen by releasing a four year old live album and signing a rapper to the band's new label; I'm not sure which is the more confounding choice. Live shows are an integral part of the Counting Crows fan experience. Like plants in a breeze, songs bend and sway to the internal biorhythms of the band and crowd. In 2008, the band stumbled across a brilliant idea: create a soundboard recording of every show and sell it online, in essence making a live album each night. So what does this live track-by-track version of the [...]

Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross takes the Counting Crows song 'Colorblind' and with two minor changes creates a new song.
Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows teams up with filmmaker Clifton Collins Jr. for 'You Might Think' video.

Diehard Counting Crows fans may already have bootleg video of Adam Duritz's band via the torrent website CrowsTown. If not, August and Everything After Live At Town Hall comes in dvd and Blu-ray formats (their first official live concert video), as well as a cd. The album is a track by track recap of their 1993 album August and Everything After, which catapulted the band into fame. Recorded at Town Hall in New York City in 2007, the album is full of the conversational interludes and improvisations Duritz is famous for in live performance. Duritz has been through [...]
The Counting Crows have always held a special place in my heart, Recovering the Satellites was one of the first albums I bought which sparked my transition from Casey Kasem's top 40 to more substantial works. They're one of the few bands that are popular enough to be canonized alongside groups like Red Hot Chili Peppers, but original enough to maintain a slither of indie cred. August and Everything After was far and away the band's most commercial success, and with Live at Town Hall , the multi-platinum record is recreated song by song. [...]
Counting Crows modernize their classic debut album in a stunning live Blu-ray release.
