In retrospect, the first official leak from the new Vampire Weekend album Contra , 'Horchata' was not really as exciting as it could have been. 'Cousins' is a different beast altogether: frantic, fun and frolicsome, like a younger brother of 'A-Punk' which is fitting as both video share the same director in Garth Jennings of Hammer & Tongs. As the release date for "Contra" gets closer, more Vampire Weekend material and information about the album is getting revealed. In an interview with "B-Sides" prior to their club show in Lomita, CA, frontman Ezra Koening mentioned that some of the material was written during his days as a substitute teacher at Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, NY.
