Summer is over... yeah, I know we have about two weeks before it's over on the calendar, but school has started, I am working my tail off, and Labor Day weekend is just about over. Thank goodness for football. Did you see that ECU Hail Mary? Maybe you should: A good weekend for me as an alumnus of Penn State and an employee of East Carolina, I enjoyed my football weekend. Ahhh, but this blog is about music... ARE YOU READY FOR SOME BLOGOPHILIA??? [...]

On Friday night I attended a fundraiser for the band Coyote Eyes at The Delancey. Their goal was to recoup the costs incurred recording their EP after the small label who offered financial backing folded, leaving the band with expenses they hadn't planned for. On hand to help were the Flying Pace, Marie Stella from Portland Maine and Quiet Loudly who played sets and offered cheap merch while friends baked treats for sale. It was an atmosphere of love support and good music making. [...]

Yellow Red by Coyote Eyes Help Coyote Eyes raise funds to finish the recording of their new EP! " This post-punk, art rock trio has already drawn comparisons to Sonic Youth. But Coyote Eyes is no cheap indie rock knock-off. Yes, like Kim Gordon, band member Marta DeLeon plays bass and sings, but her high, bird-like voice is more energetic than Gordon's. DeLeon shares vocal duty with Manny Nomikos, who matches her sprightliness with yearning, and introduces a [...]
Our pals Coyote Eyes recently had the proverbial rug pulled out from underneath them while recording their new EP. No not literally, figuratively. No one's hurt. Okay, let's just let them explain what happened: "We were recently lucky enough to find ourselves in the position of being offered financial backing by a small label to record and promote an album. This was both very flattering and humbling and we went about planning production and eventually started to record. Unfortunately, after a few days in the studio, we got word that the label had folded and not [...]

"Where you been, man?" "Man, you don't wan-ta know!" Yeah, it's been awhile. I took a bit of a break to visit family and friends in New England and upstate New York. Australia-Cape Cod, and now back in Greenville. It's good to be back, and I am prepared to blog away. So here it goes... I am convinced that the past ten plus years has done more to advance Rock music and its derivatives than in any past decade. On more than one occasion, [...]

Monday: Dream Diary, North Highlands, Phil and the Osophers, + Fluffy Lumbers @ Bruar Falls 8pm $5 [ info ] Once again we enter a week with the looming possibility of snow. If this is getting on your nerves you are not alone in your frustration with the so-called "Global Warming"! Earlier this Fall, I posted an mp3 from Quiet Color blogger turned rocker Kevin Diamond's band Shark? . They sound like this: Downloadable: Fear! I am a big fan of that price. (You can read a little bit about appeal of free over at WIRED ... here ). You can [...]

Recommended Show: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2009 THE MARY ONETTES & THE ART OF SHOOTING @ MERCURY LOUNGE 217 East Houston Street Manhattan, NY 10002 $10, 7PM The problem with most of the shows going on tonight is not that they aren't good, but that they are rather pricey (Monsters of Folk at Beacon Theater costs around $50 and Wolfmother at Terminal 5 runs a little over $27, plus whatever fees might be added if you buy them online), so I've got to go with a reasonably priced show [...]
