Day two of Northside featured some show-hopping – well, a little bit of show-hopping. My main focus that evening was EarFarm 's showcase at Spike Hill , although I had my eye on a few other shows, too. Unfortunately, my notes on this night are rather meager, so you're going to have to enjoy all the pretty pictures instead. Before the festival started, members of Coyote Eyes contacted me and sent along some songs, which is a generally lovely thing to do, and so I looked forward to seeing them live. Alas, [...]

So the first songs to show up in my Soundcloud dropbox were from Coyote Eyes . Who are Coyote Eyes? Marta DeLeon plays bass and sings. Manny Nomikos plays guitar and sings. This past Friday night, EAR FARM joined a multitude of other bloggers, record labels, websites, promoters, bands, and wonderful people from The L Magazine , in putting on the inaugural edition of the Northside Festival in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. Our showcase was at the fantastic Spike Hill and featured (bias alert) the greatest lineup of any single showcase during the entire festival. Thanks to everyone who came out, and especially to all of the bands who played. It was a wonderful show. Check out three pictures, and an MP3, from each [...]

by kevin diamond If there's one thing holding the brooklyn music scene together right now, it's probably the uptick in semi-legal, DIY, house-party venues popping up all over the map. The new Shea Stadium , which is cleverly and ironically named for that fallen bastian of baseball, is just one such venue. But unlike it's contemporaries (Dead Herring, Market Hotel, etc) Shea Stadium adds a twist. The shows presented are recorded live on professional sound equipment, to be posted on their website. It's a sort of brooklyn [...]

Two Brooklyn bands, Coyote Eyes and Gold Streets , played a free show this past Saturday night at Spike Hill in Williamsburg to an audience that was a combination of fans, friends, and Bedford Avenue passersby. Meaning, as the evening's lineup would ebb and flow from one band to the next, so too would the number of people in the crowd, likely due to the fact that the venue had the garage door sized front entrance wide open to the street. The first band, Coyote Eyes - a relatively new band formed from the ashes [...]

Back when we were first starting to book bands for the Hot Rocks Party , we had Mancino booked to play a date and asked them if there was anyone in particular they'd like to play with. Their suggestion was chopshop . After listening to the band's impressive first demos, we were interested and invited them to join the bill. And after hearing them play live at the show, we were convinced these guys were one extremely talented group of musicians. Eventually, they played a couple more StereoactiveNYC-sponsored events, but then, unfortunately, had to [...]
