Belfast-based producer Figure Of 8 certainly caught me off guard with his remix of London 'chillwave' trio Creatures Of Love and their track, 'Vakkula'. London’s Creatures of Love have released a video for their 3rd single “Vakkula”. It’s sprawling gothic electronica, that will take a minute to sink in, but once it does, it’s a truly mammoth force to be reckon with. The video adds more depth and beauty with it’s dazzling effects behind the emotive frontwoman Bonita McKinney. The song is taken from their upcoming Boy Crimes EP due out on September 24th. I have a feeling this London trio are going to be my favourite discovery of 2011. Coming from someone who has never really bought into the whole Florence hype, that's pretty rich praise. Having touched upon them as support to The Joy Formidable in my Borderline review, I have been playing 'Book Thief ' repeatedly on YouTube. My terrific and often angry flatmate, known as The Drill, was recently trying to name a film: it featured waif-like women in watery scenes, and equal doses of innocence, whimsy and lurking anger. The movie turned out to be Heavenly Creatures, and it might as well have been scored by partial namesake Creatures of Love .
