Hands down Woodstock was one of the greatest moments in history. It featured some of the best music to ever be recorded. There has not been a festival to have the cultural impact like Woodstock did. The live performances were nothing short of legendary. Woodstock was full of classic moments like Jimi Hendrix's rendition of the " Star Spangled Banner " to Santana tripping on LSD thinking his guitar was a snake's head during "Soul Sacrifice." Here are 10 incredible moments for the "three days of peace and music. Santana - Soul Sacrifice [...]

We've all been guilty of singing the wrong lyrics of a song. What makes you a terrible person, however, is if you keep singing the wrong lyrics without ever bothering to figure them out. This week, Consequence of Sound writers Dan Caffrey, Dan Pfleegor, and Justin Gerber explored these hiccups in their recent article: What’s Michael Stipe Singing on R.E.M.’s Murmur ? . Today's Rock it Out! Blog episode takes the idea further and highlights some of the most egregious misheard lyrics of all time. But, as usual, we want to know what songs [...]
The legacy of D. Boon's remarkable musical shorthand still matters today, as these covers - some his, some of his songs - will attest.
I last week spoke with Parquet Courts, who went on to collectively lament the reality that there are absolutely too many records out there that never pick up the appreciation they so incontrovertibly deserve. Their Light Up Gold may well have dwindled to become one such record, were it not ignited and allowed to explode late on last year ahead of its international release next month, and we can but hope that the eponymous début release from NYC trio Survival is afforded a similarly propitious fate. It's the sort of intensely invigorating conflation of elementary math-rock [...]

The Cave Singers epitomize the current sounds coming out of the Pacific Northwest. With band members from such Seattle mainstays as Pretty Girls Make Graves and The Murder City Devils , the group has done everything in their power to slowly curb those band's more aggressive tendencies. Instead, they've grown into a solid unit capable of lovely tunes that would sound at home in the woods near Mt. Rainier and the trails along the Columbia River. The band's latest, Naomi , continues along that trajectory, [...]
So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band or a show preview or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we throw a change-up... strike that - let’s call it a round up. Most of these videos are of bands we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won’t be telling you much about those bands themselves, just some musings that really aren’t worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a million. Hold on to your hats! [...]

While Rick Springfield 's harmless pop song blares from a stereo, calamity ensues, and the sound of gunfire upstages Springfield's longing chart buster, which seems oblivious to it all. In a city where movies premiere every night and streets flood with stars, there was only one place to be Thursday evening in Hollywood: The Palladium. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl not only premiered his much-hyped Sound City documentary , but also strung together the studio's regulars for a rock 'n' roll history lesson on stage shortly after. “Ladies and Gentlemen, we’re gonna be here for awhile,” Grohl shouted during an early intermission. Many diehard fanatics up front spit back, "We have been here awhile," alluding to the fact [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive , The Hit List , Music Appreciation Getty | Getty It's been a great year for music. But what's been even greater is how musicians have been paying tribute to each other's work, as well as creating their own. Yes, we listeners scored some great original music, but there's something to be said for artists like Feist , Destroyer , and Bruce [...]

My mom told me once that we were all born into this world with a special talent that's unique to us. Well I'm sure glad excellence in handfarting isn't my skill, but I can still appreciate the HandFartMaster . This gentleman has shared his "Handmonica" talents with the world through covers posted on his YouTube channel. Let's start with HFM's take on Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd... It's hard to believe that LA party punks Fidlar don't already have an album out. That will change on January 22. They've made waves not only in the US, but around the world; especially in the UK where their Reading and Leeds Festival sets created massive buzz. They just dropped a new track, "Gimmie Something" from the album. The song is stellar and a little more melodic and less crazy than most Fidlar fare. We at B3SCI are big fans of this band, and melodic is almost always a good thing. The Fidlar guys love Creedence Clearwater Revival and they [...]

3-CD overview ofAmerica’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band As a band whose albums, singles and live performances were equally exciting, it can be argued that Creedence Clearwater Revival remains the greatest group in American rock ‘n’ roll history. Whether stretching out a psychedelic jam of “Suzie Q” or “I Heard it Through the Grapevine,” or packing everything they had into the 2:21 of “Bad Moon Rising,” their synthesis of rock, country, blues, and southern soul was riveting. Their hit singles still leave listeners reaching to turn up the volume, and their albums harbor dozens [...]
