I don't have to tell you that you should go to every record store you can today to check out local and visiting bands in support of Record Store Day. I also don't have to tell you that a day like this is important, especially since the number of record stores have been diminishing since the advent of mp3 and digital services. It's a day that honors those joints that helped us increase our vinyl/CD/tape collections, exposed us to obscure artists, and acted as a home-away-from-home for many of us latchkey kids. It's a day of remembering that buying and [...]
What: Philly's lo-fi rockers Creepoid load into a classic Fleetwood for a cruise to the local woods. From there, the foursome equip themselves with shovels content on burying something heavy in the woods. The item remains a mystery, but judging by the lyrics it's "never coming back." Creepoid will release a split 73 with labelmates Shores April 21st via No Idea Records. Concept: Creepoid Shot and Directed: David Kain/BITBY.tv Shot and Edited: Joshua Pannepacker/BITBY.tv

Been a little while since we've rounded up a few of the best tunes that have found their way into our iTunes library recently. So, here is a great way to kick off your Thursday with six tracks gathered from our in-box and our favourite blogs. First up is the brooding psych-rock of Creepoid and a slow burning track from Horse Heaven called Dream Out . Next, some wonderfully scrappy punk from Nu Sensae , and thirdly we have the first taste of Grass Widow's planned new album Internal Logic [...]

If you missed out on Creepoid 's Horse Heaven when it was released last year via Ian Records, then you now have a second chance to improve on your music collection once again because the band just dropped the reissue of their full-length record today on white vinyl via No Idea Records. Creepoid performed an extra cozy set at The Westmoreland studio in Kensington (which is home to The Asteroid #4 crew) this past Saturday night. It was complete with free booze, fresh Pennsylvania farm cheese, and a close-knit community of supporters all in favor of unwinding and relaxing as they hypnotically swayed in front of the live stream camera during the band's performance. The warehouse's orangey light was soon overpowered by psychedelic imagery projected over the group's equipment; the white-bricked walls were illuminated with splatters of [...]

Creepoid is doing an in-studio performance tonight at The Westmoreland Studio which will be recorded for a downloadable album that will be available via ApolloAudio.com, CTKME.com, iTunes, etc. when released in a few weeks. If you don't happen to be the lucky few who are chosen to attend, you can also stream the performance HERE (and for iOs users to watch on your iPhone or iPad only, you'll need the Livestream.com app HERE - search for [...]

With probably the longest entry of 2011 we give the floor to regular MM contributor and top ten compiler...Dr Roddy. Well it seems to be that time of year again. I always spend 340 days looking forward to doing this and 25 agonising over it. This year especially though, as I think there has been a bumper harvest of great songs. When I looked at my Top Ten playlist (with over 100 songs in it) I just thought one thing: bugger! I got there in the end though. There have been certain parties that have tried [...]
The second part of Given and Taken in Ink's autumn mix is now up on 8tracks: Every time I make a new list, I think it's the best one I've ever done. Sometimes that's actually true. This just may be one of those times. There's the pure pop joy (no pun intended) of "Murderous Joy," the quirky brilliance of Siskiyou, and the weary rasp of Dan Mangan. I love the tranquility of "State / Meant" juxtaposed with the anxiously dreamlike "Curfews." "Ghost Towns" and "My Friends" are highlights of two masterful albums. And I [...]
