![DMX Checks Into Hospital, Presumably Under His Own Name [Worst Year Ever?]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1200548_lg.jpg)
The troubled MC Earl Simmons—known professionally as DMX—missed an Arizona court date on Tuesday because he had been admitted to a hospital in Miami, according to his court-appointed public defender Charles Kozelka , and a warrant was issued for his arrest over the missed appearance. It's the latest in this year's long string of troubles for DMX, who has accrued a dossier this year that includes the repossession of a New York townhouse because of his failure to endorse clothing for dogs properly , as well as arrests for drug-related crimes, animal cruelty, and identity theft, [...]
So, it's official, then: Gary Glitter is coming home : "Police booked his ticket from Ho Chi Minh City to London and I have already paid for the ticket on his behalf," his lawyer Le Thanh Kinh told The Associated Press by telephone Thursday. Glitter is said to be unkeen on returning home - presumably as he was reported to have left the country without signing the sex offenders' register as part of his earlier conviction and can probably expect a fairly swift re-arrest.

The woman who was murdered after Lil Kim's birthday party was a fan who was hoping to meet the MC and had even brought birthday flowers; she met her alleged attacker when she was trying to find a place to stow the bouquet. Ingrid Rivera, a 24-year-old New York resident who was found bludgeoned to death on the roof of the Times Square party venue Spotlight Live, met Syed Rahman while he was working as a barback at the club; later that evening, Rahman allegedly made sexual advances toward Rivera's friend, then lured Rivera up to the roof, where he [...]

Miami's second annual Rick Ross Be Out Day, where the hip-hop heavyweight hands out school supplies to the city's children, was going great... until someone got so excited by Rick Ross being on stage that he started shooting his gun off. One man's in custody, another's at large, and there seem to have been no reported injuries, thanks to people fleeing the scene once the gunfire erputed. [ AllHipHop ]
![Stooges' Stolen Truck Recovered, Equipment Still Missing [Update]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1188670_lg.jpg)
The rental truck that housed Iggy and the Stooges' gear when it was stolen sometime Monday morning has been found, but the equipment inside has yet to be recovered. The Stooges' show tonight in Toronto will go on despite the loss, but the band members will have to use rented and donated equipment until their stuff turns up. C'mon, this story needs to have a happy ending! Full list of stolen items—via Hootpage , which has pictures of some pieces—after the jump. Red roadcase containing: [...]

On Monday, August 4th, some really crappy person broke into THE STOOGES' rented truck, stealing the truck and making off with all of the band's gear inside. The break-in happened outside the band's hotel at the Embassy Suites in Montreal. All equipment was in a rented Penske 15 foot yellow truck with US (Michigan) license plate number AC46493 parked immediately outside the hotel, the theft had to have happened in the morning, between 6:30 and 7:30 am - the truck and all gear stolen. Literally everything was taken, [...]
Sadly, stories of bands having their kit nicked after gigs are all too common, but normally the victims are the sort of groups who have to hump their own stuff to the van. Last night, though, Iggy Pop and the Stooges became victim to gear-pinchers, after someone made off with their van in Montreal. Police are asking anyone offered a pair of see-through vinyl trousers and very, very sweaty guitars at a cheap price to get in touch.

Somebody stole the Stooges' gear from a truck parked outside their Montreal hotel this morning. What gives, man? Full list of stolen property at the link, in case you want to be on the lookout. [ Hootpage.com ; HT Jon Solomon ]
Poor old David Cameron - not only has someone stolen his bike (perhaps it was a student prank, the sort of young person's indiscretion we should turn a blind eye too; or maybe it was a young person pinched it, in which case we must act now) - but The Times diary records that his attempts to woo the urban scene still have some work required: In a summit with New Statesman , the top artiste Goldie says: "If David Cameron puts his hand out to youth, he's going to get it bitten off. [...]
Why does Seal live in LA? Is it because Heidi Klum, the main breadwinner in his partnership, works there? Or is there another reason ? Apparently, it's because LA is safer: "L.A. is no more dangerous than London - in fact, you could say it's less so." Could you, Seal? The LA murder rate is 12.4 people per 100,000 of the population [ FBI Crime rates, 2006 ]; in London, it's 2.09 [Based on 155 murders in the Metropolitan Police area population of 7.4 million ]. Good news, then, for Gordon Smart, who is assured a string of stories smuggled out of jail in the coming weeks as Blake Fielder-Civil starts a 27-month sentence for a violent assault on a pub landlord and attempting to pervert the course of justice. In a bid to try and keep himself out of chokey, his defence unsuccessfully attempted a bit of clumsy 'Amy Winehouse MIGHT DIE' if you send him down pleading: Jeremy Dein QC, for Fielder-Civil, said his client had been thrown in to a "nightmare scenario" after the attack. While it took years to finish their debut, These United States quickly set out to Kentucky just nine weeks after its release to start recording their sophomore album. Crimes , due out on October 7th on United Interests was recorded in six short days at Shangri-La Studios. They were nice enough to give us a taste with the opening track called West Won . Apparently going down south has had an effect on their sound, as the swooning sounds of Jesse Elliot's croon now stand side by side with some hot and sweaty swash bucklin' grooves. As you [...]
The law is seeking Pete Doherty again: he missed a second court date on charges of breaking a photographer's equipment and an arrest warrant has been raised . Spinner rather generously describes this as "bad luck", as if not turning up at court twice in a row might be considered an act of god. [UPDATE: The court date has been rescheduled and the warrant withdrawn]

These United States [ Official Site , Myspace ] commit CRIMES on their second LP of 2008, that is, which will be available Oct. 7 via United Interests. The album is a mixture of all things grand happening in American music: strong storytelling and passionate instrumentation married in an effort to prove that music is the art that moves us or makes us want to move. The lead single, "West Won", is available here, so please check it out, it's a jaunting track and a slap in the mouth to lazy alt-rockers. You know, [...]
You might have thought that, like his appearance at Pride, Boris Johnson's decision to embrace Lily Allen was more about photo opportunities trying to reposition him as being intouch and modern than a serious attempt to do something about knife crime. But, oh no, it really is a genuine initiative : Speaking about the meeting, Johnson told BBC 6music: "I welcome any constructive suggestions on combating knife crime and Lily Allen has already proved her commitment to help address this problem. "I welcome her proposals and am keen to explore further how she can help [...]
About a thousand tickets for the Loch Lomond festival have vanished . The line up includes the Sex Pistols, Pete Doherty if he can be arsed to show up, and the Happy Mondays - like it's some sort of festival of drug-addled wastage down the centuries. Tickets had been entrusted to a courier firm; the organisers are insisting that they won't let anyone in with stolen tickets and have "increased security" to ensure that won't happen.
![Lou Pearlman Says "Bye, Bye, Bye" To The Possibility Of Ever Being Financially Solvent [Restitution]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1156502_lg.jpg)
Former boy-band svengali/current guest of the federal pokey Lou Pearlman has been ordered to repay some $300 million to the investors who he bilked over years of real-estate fraud and Ponzi-like scheming. How did Pearlman amass these ill-gotten gains? Glad you asked! "The FBI and FDIC determined Pearlman took $195 million from more than 1,000 people in an alleged savings program promising 6 percent to 10 percent returns, and $126.7 million in bogus loans from federally insured banks. Another $70 million was invested by people who thought they were buying shares in companies owned by Pearlman that mostly [...]
Steven Page from the Barenaked Ladies has been arrested in Syracuse. We'll allow you to add your own 'crimes against music' joke before moving on. Page was apparently charged with fourth degree criminal drug possession offences. fourth degree ? What's that, exactly? Thinking about going out to score? This is the most perfect time for the band to be promoting their album for kids.
Geoff Ellis, T In The Park organiser, is trying to keep the serious stabbing at T in the Park in some sort of context: "We're despondent about it," he told NME.COM. "Does it cast a cloud over the festival? Well, as serious as it is, it is an isolated incident, and we've had a really well-behaved festival here so far. "Unfortunately we're seeing things like this in society today, it seems to be on the rise in general. The security here is really robust – we've got a big fence around the site, for [...]

Our car was found - but at a total loss. While the car was stripped of it's the seats, all our personal items remained intact. In fact... the thief (thieves) used Eli's baby seat to drive the car after stripping it. Playlist: Baby Seat Driver Thief Police were not able to pull an ass print from the seat, but we know the criminal's backside had to have been on the small side. Either way, Eli's seat cover is going to get a [...]
