Natasha Hamilton out-of-Atomic-Kitten's H nightclub has achieved a notable first: it's become the first nightclub in the UK to be closed twice because of violence . The club, in Victoria Street, was closed down last September after a stabbing inside. According to the Echo, the latest incident was equally, if not more, grisly: Two door staff suffered knife wounds, one to his chest and another to his hand, while a third man also suffered stab injuries after trouble spilled outside. Merseyside Police said a customer was armed with a knife inside H Bar, [...]
Switching gears entirely, and the words of John Cleese, "and now for something completely different." With the release of Sonic Youth's The Eternal earlier this summer I've been working in tracks from Evol and Sister on ye olde aquarium drunkard radio show. Actually, that's not entirely true as I tend to consistently pull from these [...]
I was told Frick Park is a nice place for trail running and, though I didn't find it to be particularly spectacular, that's more or less true... if you don't count the thieves that busted out my car window and stole all my stuff while I pondered the possibility of starting a second blog about trail running in Pittsburgh (which I did, here ). After hours wasted this week dealing with the insurance people, replacing credit cards, finding a new cell phone, and waiting in line at the ever-depressing PennDOT Drivers License Center, I find myself a [...]
You can forgive Young Jeezy a little, as it's clear he's never quite had a fully-formed thought complete a journey all the way along a synapse - but is he really so keen to see animal-torturing git Michael Vick back as if nothing happened ? "That's my dude.I just talked to Michael Vick. Welcome back. I'mma just be real. I'm not saying this to be funny. I know 'em all, from Pacman Jones to Michael Vick. Sometimes keeping it real becomes keeping it dumb. It's hard enough in that position that they in. You can't keep a [...]

It wasn't, you'd have to say, the greatest courtroom victory when the judge in the Amy Winehouse assault case said he couldn't be sure if Winehouse had meant to hit the dancer and set her free. It was the first time "aw, bless, she's so far gone she doesn't know what she's doing" has ever been a verdict in a British trial. Meanwhile, what of the hit-ee? She's worried : Rex Features A woman who claims that she was punched by Amy Winehouse has admitted that she fears for her career and reputation [...]
Lesley Sampson - mother of George Sampson, of course - has been charged with flytipping after, it is alleged, she dumped sixteen bags of his fanmail outside his house. Lesley has denied the charge; the case has been adjourned.
A heavy-handed sentence for leaking Guns N Roses' album 'Chinese Democracy' has been handed to Kevin Cogill , as the RIAA would hope for: A federal judge has sentenced a man who pleaded guilty to leaking part of the Guns N' Roses album "Chinese Democracy" to a year's probation. Blogger Kevin Cogill (KOH'gill) will also serve two months of home confinement, subject his computers to government scrutiny, and record a public service announcement for the Industry Association of America [sic]. The prosecution had wanted him to go to prison - prison [...]
I love these United States. Over the past eight years I only sort of like-liked them. But I really like These United States and everything they stand for. Except maybe their hair. What started out as sort of a loose music collective of revolving-door players has now become a fully functional band (the handsome fellows pictured above) led by Jesse Elliott , a man who's been accused by some of being a little on the wordy side. On the Washington, D.C. band's first effort A Picture of Us at the Gate to [...]
According to a local TV channel, Michael Derderian, one of the co-owners of the nightclub where 100 people died in a fire following a Great White show, has been released early from prison. He was originally expected to be freed in the autumn, but has secured an early release through good behaviour. [ Rhode Island nightclub fire - full coverage ]
The key detail in the coverage of the story of the photographers who had their entire kit pinched just hours after photographing Robbie Williams is the way the press describe exactly what the photograph was of . The Times : The photographs showed Mr Williams smoking a large hand-rolled cigarette. The Telegraph : [T]hey captured images of Williams smoking a large roll-up cigarette. The BBC declines to comment on the photos themselves. The Sun : [...]
The Met Police have arrested a group of djs who allegedly were using stolen credit cards to buy their own music off Amazon and iTunes. Yes, yes, it's criminal, but at least they weren't unlicensed downloads. DCI Terry Wilson, from the Met's Police Central e-Crime Unit, said: "This has been a complex investigation to establish what we believe to be an international conspiracy to defraud Apple and Amazon." I'm sure Terry knows what he's talking about, but I'm not sure defrauding Apple and Amazon was quite the idea - [...]
The Telegraph describes the nasty incident where Rachel Stevens was relieved of her stuff by a gang as a "mugging", although, given she was followed into her home and menaced by three blokes, that seems a little mild. Not like the Telegraph to miss an opportunity to talk up a crime, is it? Whatever you call it, it's a horrible thing to have happened, and while it won't do much good, Ms Stevens has our sympathy.
Karaoke feud in Liverpool ends in blood-spattered street sword fight .
Things are so bad for the PM that Lily Allen is able to patronise him : She has said that Gordon Brown is "a nice man" and that she could never become a Tory. Although what of the Tories, Lily - aren't you working with them? Boris Johnson, is "a cool guy" and that she wants to fulfil her promise, made in the wake of the glut of teenage stabbings last year, to help London's troubled youth. But not until she has enough time to do it properly. "I could just turn up [...]
Chris Brown's attempts to build a defence by focusing on anything other than the incident with which he has been charged continue with attempts to call for an investigation into the leaking of the post-beating Rihanna photo : [Brown's lawyer] Geragos is reportedly seeking notes from the Internal Affairs probe, along with notes from the 25 officers and LAPD personnel who handled the case and other documents that he intends to use "at the preliminary hearing to attack their credibility. The defense intends to prove and argue that the aforementioned officers are not credible and that the [...]
50 Cent is delighted to announce that he had nothing to do with the strange burning down of one of his houses , through his own website: Back in May of 2008,50 Cent's ex and baby mother of his son, blamed and accused 50 Cent for a fire that took place in her 1.4 million dollar home, which 50 purchased for them. 50 Cent has just been officially cleared of the house fire.
