Click image to download full album Sounds like: Best Coast, Vivian Girls, Crocodiles "Dum Dum Girls - Oh Mein M" What's so good? If there were any show billed as a boys and girl's night out, it would have been Dum Dum Girls with Crocodiles last Tuesday October 4 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The audience was pretty mixed with guys [...]
With Only In Dreams hitting the shelves last week, Dum Dum Girls embarked on a nationwide tour that featured a stop by the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. One of the highlights of the evening included their cover of the Smiths' "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" amidst their solid fifteen-song set. Get to the show early to see Crocodiles and a guest spot by Dee Dee on vocals for "I Wanna Kill."
Alright. I've let Amanda do the majority of the hype so far for Decibel Festival, which (one night in) is absolutely crackin. Araabmuzik was my first-night notable, as he had Neumos in a Wednesday-night haze of electronic beauty from the second his first beat dropped. It's time for me to usher you into the crowning achievement [Read Full Post...]

Weekend and Talk Normal at the Crocodile, Seattle | 26 September 2011 I'm not sure why this show was booked at the Crocodile. With only a handful of people showing up to see Weekend and Talk Normal, someone had to lose money. This show would have been much better for all in involved in a smaller place like the Comet, Lo-Fi, or Sunset. At any of those places, it would have seemed like enough people showed up to see them. At [...]
I was just thinking about Crocodiles yesterday. I loved their record Sleep Forever and was hoping they'd have a follow-up soon. My wish was almost granted - Crocodiles member Charles Rowell and The Slits' Hollie Cook have teamed up to form the group Psychic Dancehall. The duo make music that's psychedelic, sludgey and often a [...]
Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive , Q + A Lauren Dukoff Dum Dum Girls have gotten tons of praise for their second album, 'Only in Dreams,' which has drawn comparisons to Mazzy Star and the Pretenders thanks to frontwoman Dee Dee Dum Dum's clear, powerful vocals. While Dee Dee has plenty to be happy about with the strength of [...]

Taking Back Sunday have announced three new dates set for the end of the year.
HEY! People! September is almost over. I know it's hard to believe. It went by so fast! But I have always looked forward to October living in this city because one thing is always true: There are always so many good shows. Seriously. So many good bands come through Seattle in October. It never fails me. I don't know what it is - maybe because Seattle is also awesome in October. And this year is no exception - so I have dubbed this month ROCK-tober. Here's a sneak peak at the October shows I'm excited about/going to (!!! for extra [...]

While we were searching the interwebs for news about the new album from Crocodiles, we came across this little beauty. An acoustic version of Daniel Johnston's True Love, recorded a couple of months ago in France. Enjoy.

Sage Francis might be my favorite MC. That's a tough crown to hand someone, in a genre that has mattered so much to me for so long. I won't do it today (though he was the only hip hop artist to place two tracks on my 100 Best Songs of the Decade Countdown). But Sage Francis is definitely [Read Full Post...]
Did anyone miss it? It was AMAZING!

My Star has been Slung. A little late to the party I guess as this collection of tunes came out in 2010, but this is some good shit, glad I just stumbled upon it. Call it hip hop , call it electro bee bop pop, call it what you want, but its just NICE! Download Star Slinger Volume 1 See him September 30th at the Crocodile Starslinger.net | MySpace | Facebook
This morning is close the windows, put on warm slippers and a sweatshirt cold. The house was 69° when I came downstairs. As if it were winter, I clutched that warm coffee cup between my hands hoping to stave off the cold. I woke up at 7:30 today so it seems my body is finally recognizing it's home. Today is Paga day. Paga is the last town in Ghana before Burkina Faso. In my day it was the last town before crossing into Upper Volta. Paga is famous for its sacred crocodile ponds. I visited there forty-two years [...]
Crocodiles is Charles Rowell and Brandon Welchez. Delivering hazy, gritty pop tunes will have you basking in their synth beams. Their sophomore album Sleep Forever ( produced by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford) is out now.
One of our favorite games around festival time is trying to figure out all the mysterious band names popping up on schedules around town. With festivals having strict proximity clauses, bands are unable to play locally, but many touring bands seek secondary dates to accomodate fans and get more bang for their travel buck. If [...]

Bedroom Eyes Y Do U Call Me by Colleen Green ( previously on CWR) Second song released from LA's Dum Dum Girls forthcoming LP, Only In Dreams , on September 27 from Sub-Pop Records . It's not a slow-dancer like 'Coming Down' from a few months ago, and carry's more grit than what we got on their last record, but it's a sound that you've definitely heard quite a bit of by now (still fun, though). Give it a [...]
