Crowded House will release a new studio album, Time On Earth , on July 2nd. It's the first release with new drummer Matt Sherrod (formerly with Beck ), and the first "proper" studio album after 1993's Together Alone (there have been various Best-Of-compilation and last year's fabulous live-album Farewell To The World ). Best known for their hit 80s single "Don't Dream It's Over, it's been 14 years since Crowded House released an album. Time On Earth is scheduled to be released on July 10th. Once again, it's that time of year for the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in my home town of Indio, California. Via NME: Beck drummer Matt Sherrod has joined as a full-time member of the recently reunited Crowded House , according to Australian website Undercover. The band held auditions for the position following their decision to reunite. The original drummer Paul Hester passed away in 2005. The report also says that former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, now a full member of Modest Mouse, has also been working on song-writing with Neil Finn.
