MP3 Among Sub Pop Records' most recent signees is Poor Moon, a project consisting of Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott of Fleet Foxes and Crystal Skulls, as well as Ian and Peter Murray of the Christmas Cards. "People In Her Mind" comes from the band's recently released EP Illusion , a five-track release that precedes a full-length debut that is set to drop in August. The group's nods to '60s guitar pop is sure to draw a lot of comparisons to The Zombies, but that's not to say necessarily that it won't appeal [...]

If Poor Moon 's vocals sound familiar, it may be 'cause Fleet Foxes' Christian Wargo is at the lead mic. Fellow FF and Crystal Skulls member Casey Wescott is also on board, with the Christmas Cards' Ian and Peter Murray. Two of the EP's tracks sound more or less like Fleet Foxes and/or Crystal Skulls, although Anyplace and People in Her Mind are nice takes on '60s Folk-Pop – in fact, the array of straightforward hooks on People would dance well with any by Robbers on High Street. My [...]
Looking for a revamped version of classic folk-rock? Check out the new project from members of Fleet Foxes.

By Trevor Meyer Poor Moon brings Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott (Fleet Foxes, Crystal Skulls) together with Ian and Peter Murray (The Christmas Cards), creating a powerhouse quartet. This is quasi-reminiscent of Fleet Foxes, but Poor Moon offer up desirable, cleverly-written melodies that will alleviate all of your headaches better than most modern medicine. "Illusion" is the title track from the band's forthcoming EP, out March 26th. Poor Moon [...]
Once upon a time there was a band called Crystal Skulls who released a few albums. I had been patiently waiting and waiting for a new release, wondering if Crystal Skulls were even still a band. One sunny afternoon I found out two of the members Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott joined the Fleet Foxes, which I want to take a moment to say I am more than ok with. Starting off as a long distant project with demos sent back and fourth while Wargo and Wescott were touring in support of the Fleet Foxes debut album. Brothers [...]

"Shadows on Behalf" sounds like it was recorded at several points throughout history - at a '60s soul festival, the set of a '70s porno, a pioneering hip-hop sample demonstration from the '80s... it's a wonderful smorgasbord of stylistic periods, to say the least. The best classification for it, and many of The Stepkids' tracks, [...]

Shearwater - Meridian When he was in his usual jovial mood, Big J liked to call them Big Boy Drinks. Right now he felt more like calling it what his mother did: Poison. "I'm going to drink a good deal of poison tonight," she would tell him. Despite his mood, Big J kept the laugh in his voice as he told Scotty that he was coming over to the party for some Big Boy Drinks. His voice was a dense cloud in the crisp frozen air as he spoke into his bulky Nokia on [...]
The cover of Crystal Skulls' debut record gives it all away: they are an indie pop band.

I've been touring Europe for the last four weeks and I've finally arrived home, which also means I'll be posting again. Here are a few of the 8,000 songs that kept me company whilst traveling around mainland Europe (and Ireland) in the back of a van. To check out my tour blogs, visit Spinner . A few more will be going up this week. *MP3: Paramore - "Ignorance" *MP3: Dirty Projectors - "Cannibal Resource" *MP3: Jimmy Eat World - "Bleed American" *MP3: Deerhunter [...]

Many of you who follow Pasta Primavera may have wondered, "Yo Pasta! Where's your artist reviews/suggested listening posts? Those are the part of your site that I love the most!" Well that's the part of the site that take the most time to develop and create and lately I've been short on time. Why? Well this past Sunday (Easter) my wife gave birth to a new baby boy!! It's the most amazing and beautiful thing that has ever happened to me. Really. I'm looking at him right now - I'm in awe. So as you can imagine between [...]

Today brings my seventh installment in the On The Road series. I went to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan this weekend with my band and played at Michigan Tech in Houghton . It was a blast and the eight-hour drive was beautiful. Since the U.P. is so far north, it actually seemed like we were watching the seasons go in reverse; i.e. snow on the ground, gray skies. While watching the snow pile up, I made this mix to keep me company over the weekend. Hope you like it. *MP3: The Hold [...]

I got to thinking recently about wtf was going on with some of my favorite artists who should be about due (or are overdue) for some kind of release. And then I thought it'd be fun and informative if we found out together... 1. Crystal Skulls - Oddly enough, the answer was right in front of me, quite literally. The main peeps in this hip Seattle outfit are now integral to the lineup of Fleet Foxes along with another linesthroughlines favorite J. Tillman . Golly gee, I hope both release their own material [...]

I realize that I don't post enough music on here anymore because I am either too busy or lazy, and that we are a little low in the art department, but it's gonna change when I get back to school! In order to make up for a summer low on music, I am presenting everyone with a travel mix I made. Each song title describes a part of my journey back to the 'burgh. ENJOY! 1. Battle - One More Night 2. 1990s - [...]

In celebration of the return of the greatest thing to happen to the serial drama since, well, the serial drama. Tonight (ABC - 8/7C) the writer's strike, a lack of award shows, and TV's general lacklusterness will all be washed away when JJ Abrams bathes us in his directorial beauty. Who will be rescued? Will anyone be rescued? Who was in the casket? Where are Jack & Kate in that flash back/flash forward? Who is the "he" Kate was referring to? God, the questions! [mp3] Elliott Smith - [...]
If you're a fan of movies or just need an excuse to consume dumpster-sized buckets of popcorn, there's good news - 2008 looks to be an absolutely ace year for film! There's so many reasons to visit the cineplex in the coming year, it may be a good time to ...
So the only thing interesting to come out of last night's horrendous VMA's was Shia LeBeouf letting everyone know the title of the new Indiana Jones movie: ... And the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. If nothing else, this should...

In the summer, songs have to pass a test. At least in my world. Each new track must be played at full volume in my car while driving on a relatively empty highway at (or slightly over) the speed limit and said song must make my head and/or butt bounce (depending on bassline, 'natch), make me smile and think "its summer!" and, finally, make me want to listen again. Unfortunately, my car is presently residing in my Grandmother's driveway due to the difficulty of being vehicular in NYC. However, I feel more than confident that Seattle five-piece The Crystal Skulls [...]
