Back in the day when MuchMusic was a viable source for new music and not just a dumping ground for the same handful of pop videos and lots of not necessarily music related content, I was introduced to a lot of cool new stuff, particularly though shows like The Wedge and MuchWest. The latter program was likely where I first got turned on to the Mint Records roster and the likes of Cub and The Evaporators , while also being where I first saw Evaporators frontman Nardwuar the Human Serviette do his whole band/celebrity interview [...]

Mike (23 years of age), also known as Cubs grew up in Kensington Maryland, but currently resides in Delray Beach, Florida USA. His early productions came in the form of Hip Hop (mid 2012), and is now producing Dubstep from over 4 years of inspiration. Cubs a nickname given to him by friends (due to a shady lookin' haircut) is inspired by many of the producers putting out that Fish Wobble 'ridim' sound, these would include but not limited to Maddman , AD , Juan BassHead , Jam P R D , Tosti [...]

London vocalist Dave Dixon has joined Neu favourite CUBS for a new track titled 'Twins'. Minimal and steeped in steel drums and choral backing vocals, it shows Amber Bain (the brains behind the CUBS project) singing about broken promises. This is the first we've heard from CUBS since her inaugural ' Anthra' and 'Apart' songs, which we profiled so enthusiastically on Neu five months back . Those Taken By Trees comparisons that we flung at her music still hold, in fact Amber's never suited the gentle electronica sound as well as this before. [...]

Thomas van Druten was born and still lives in a small city called Zutphen on the east side of the Netherlands. This 20 year old picked up his producer name from a popular Dutch after-party beverage, yeah that's right, this guy is a party animal! Tosti's production is no joke, and has a forthcoming release on Lowr Levl Recordings , Room 1 Records , and has compilation releases with the Duploc Dealer and Access.fm . The sound being produced comes off as crunchy but still gooey in the middle, with undertones of buttery sub bass [...]

Pic: Kai Nodland Sorry for the lack of updates the past few weeks. We all get busy. Onwards with some dubby grooves, bottomless techno and euphoric twinkles. Edanticonf - Planet ( buy ) Cub - C U 2 (UST Funk Mix) ( buy ) Paul Mac - Hotel Insomnia [...]

Rarely do I receive so many emails praising a debut but Snøskred is an exception. In response, its only fair to post another cut from 'Whiteout'. The Norwegian shoegaze act launched the record on the back of the singles ' We Are ' and ' Come Closer ' but there's more to indulge in. 'Cubs' is a woozy affair, a slow burner that may cause sea sickness. The melody eventually winds its way into percussion, piano stabs and frenzied guitar chords that don't attempt to resolve themselves. Snøskred's 'Whiteout' is available now via Sad Songs For Happy People / Riot Factory . [...]

by Tiana Feng Last night, I went to Teenage Kicks' last show with Jeff and Pat still in the band. You can read my review on Exclaim! . Not going to ramble too much about it here. It was my first time seeing all 4 bands live. I had dismissed Teenage Kicks' past shows thinking They always play Toronto , but since there was a change in order soon, I thought I'd finally go. I had a blast and the audience was full of [...]

Slo-fidelity well worth huddling in with, is this from CUBS . ANTHRA is a sublime, yet with it remarkably subtle hair-tingler seemingly derived from the gelid warmths once emitted by The Concretes on the Stockholm swedehearts' eponymous LP of '03. Unfathomably, however, ANTHRA wasn't conceived upon a sled carving rimy tracks across the Arctic but was born of London. For CUBS is Amber Bain, and by the seems of it she's already beginning to burgeon, numbing the fingers, heads and hearts of they that feed the Hype Machine with scrumptious RSS. Refreshing as a lungful of iced oxygen, it [...]

With very little promotional material to her name, CUBS is the UK's latest chanteuse mystérieuse. Née Amber Bain, CUBS is bedroom music's answer to new age. The latest track to surface from the London artist is "Anthra," a dreamy, minimalist number that embodies the artist's wintry, isolated aesthetic. Though the quality is homemade, Bain's beautiful voice shines through quite strongly. I can only imagine what would come from better production. Keep an eye on CUBS' Facebook for more from this up-and-comer. STREAM: CUBS - "Anthra"
Umphrey's McGee members Brendan Bayliss, Joel Cummins, Jake Cinninger and Ryan Stasik lived out a dream last night when they led the Cubs faithful in a rousing version of Take Me Out To The Ball Game during the 7th Inning Stretch at Wrigley Field in their hometown of Chicago. Umphrey's McGee - Take Me Out To The Ball Game Later, Cummins joined the Cubs broadcasters in the booth. Joel Cummins on Cubs Broadcast The groups [...]

Why? – Sod in the Seed [EP] (Anticon) “Poderia ser mais que um EP...”. Essa frase resume bem a sensação deixada por Sod in the Seed .
'Bear Cubs', the new single by Stockholm's Museum Of Bellas Artes , is out now on 73 via Force Majeure .
It's been 18 months since we last heard from Stockholm pop trio Museum Of Bellas Artes; the delicate blend of art house pop and sumptuous production that made up debut EP Days Ahead was a force to be reckoned with. Yet, whilst the yearning vocals and almost trademark flute lines are still present, MBA showcase the first track from their upcoming full-length with a more understated number than we've previously heard. 'Bear Cubs' lays the trio wide open - its brief three minutes over in the blink of an eye. No tricks or flashy production, just simple and understated pop that begs [...]

Museum Of Bellas Artes have been gracing our ears for a couple of years now after Transparent Records released Watch The Glow as a 73 (we even featured them on our illicit little Welcome To The Pack compilation ). Finally, however, they are finally gearing up to the release of their debut album in the very near future. Our first taste of the new record is the first single taken from it in Bear Cubs , which will be dropping on June 13th on Force Majeure which we've got streaming for you below. [...]
Today, I want to introduce to you a young (19-year-old) producer from Scotland. His name is Louis and he is the producing half of the DJ duo Count Clockwork that recently released its Like Clockwork EP on VAMP Music . Now, Louis decided to start his very own solo project Lucky Cub and it is a pleasure for me to release his debut EP Less Bear right here on EARMILK for free! [...]

Baseball season is upon us as an early spring air blowing through the half-cracked door to our left has sparked us with the possibility of some kind of awakening tonight, but then someone decides to start singing rap songs from the corner booth. It’s only one of many contradictory events of the evening. I’m talking with duo Eric Christiansen and Thom Fountain of Wisconsin Built late at night just before the release show of their new album, Rest Less, this Thursday at the House of Rock. “Is that Fitty?” Eric Christensen asks about the tune hummed across the [...]

Words by Alan Cerenil ( @snobworthy ) Sports Illustrated recently came out with their win projections for the upcoming baseball season and they projected the Cubs to win 66 games and the White Sox to win 67 games. Yikes! The projections from Sports Illustrated are not the end all be all, but they do represent a not-so-bright view that many baseball analysts, commenters, and media types have on the teams that call Chicago home. To put it nicely, the Cubs and White Sox are not going to be very good this season. If the projections are off [...]
Tweet Listen to Solar Bears 's new track "Alpha People" featuring Sarah P. of Keep Shelly In Athens below, from their new album "Supermigration" . Ireland's Solar Bears have been at this "let's make some of the most easily-get-behindable and downbeat electronic music around" for a year or two now, and on top of the singles and remixes they've released they also managed to pump out an album, [...]
