You probably know by now that we do things kind of different here. For example, we rarely ever post just one or two songs and call it a day. Instead, we regularly publish at least five to 10 songs per post, and often many more. Every month - and especially during the past year and [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

I can't deny it - I LOVE Vampire Weekend , so when I pressed play and heard Jesus Flag American Fish by San Diego band Cuckoo Chaos , it was natural that I would love the melodies, vocals and general "feel good" vibe of this song. The song is available as a 73 with B-side "Jamb Song" which has a completely different sound. Click here for the Free Download Find out more about them on Twitter and Facebook .

Starting our Friday off with and interesting track from San Diego "indie-pop experimentalists" Cuckoo Chaos. They will be releasing a new 7", Jesus Flag, American Fish, July 26th. Here is the B-side, Jamb Song. Cuckoo Chaos; Jamb Song

As soon as Bowlegs heard the debut single, 'Jesus Flag American Fish', from San Diego's Cuckoo Chaos, we wanted to hear more. Here was a band stirring up a twitchy and excitable form of Paul Simon's "Graceland' - creating complex rhythms, relentless guitar solos and an optimism within their smiling melody. And with long passages of instrumentation, where the beats and guitars excitably waltz around one another, they have created a sound they can call their own. Turns out they have signed to Lefse Records, have an album in the can and are touring with the likes of [...]

As I was fortunate enough to be at the beach with the family this week, I missed posting "The New". Here's what I've been able to dig up upon my return: Twin Sister – Bad Street [MP3] (from In Heaven , out September 27) Slim Cessna's Auto Club – A Smashing Indictment of Character [MP3] (from Unentitled , out now) Future Islands [...]

Frank Yang So yes, I am currently abroad - huzzah - but this little dispatch isn't meant to rub it in to those who are still back in Toronto (or wherever you might be that is not Barcelona). Instead, it's to gently remind you that there's still plenty of stuff of the live music variety to see right there in Hogtown this week; more than is typical, I'd go so far as to say. So here's a quick run-down of stuff that, were I not elsewhere, I'd either be at or consider being at, starting [...]

On the fourth day of this year's South By Southwest, we were insanely busy, hopping around to a bunch of different places in the daytime and the nighttime, trying to survive covering all that we could. One of the highlights was the day party at Lipstick 24 for the I Guess I'm Floating guys, who [...]

I've been thinking about this a lot, and in the vein of all year-end best-of/worst-of, most-least-likely-to's, and honorable mentions I wanted to put together a geographical best-of list of my own. One that takes place in my current residence: San Diego, California. Since being here, I've discovered a wellspring of creativity, mostly in both form and content of young people quietly and steadily doing what they love, in a community that takes place, often, in the living room and surrounding areas of the Habitat House- or other unlikely grounds for performance, be it venues, galleries or attics. It is here [...]
