Oranjuice Entertainment and Sony Music's collaboration Live From The Console is all set to make it's debut as a festival this December. The event was announced a couple of months ago (as was the Kolkata edition of Live From The Console, read more about them here ) and there was mention of "international acts" who would make the bill as well. The lineup for the event was announced yesterday and the early lineup seems encouraging. Reggae fans will be buoyed by news that Julian Marley (son of reggae legend Bob Marley) will be there and he will [...]

When I first Introduced South of France in December of last year, I mentioned that they should be careful to not get caught up in their influences so as to not seem like another copycat. I'm sat here ten months later with their debut full-length, Another Boring Sunrise , trying to decide whether they've managed to do so or not. The short answer probably has to be "not entirely", though the slightly longer would probably be "not entirely, but they've taken firm steps to making their own sound". Longer yet is [...]

You can never go wrong starting your week off with a little funk. It eases you into a Monday nicely, and gets you in the groove to jam out some work. So today Copenhagen's Zohdy & Senna have got just the stuff. The two talented producers, who are both impressive in their own right, have come together to create a superjam with their great rework of The Cults track Go Outside . They've turned the indie wanderlust tune into a tech-house/nu-disco driver, that stays faithful to the original while spicing it up with their own flash. We're [...]
There's lots and lots and lots of incredibly shit music in the world. But it takes a certain naive brilliance to create something so shit that it's belly wobblingly funny. Step forward Mark Gormley . Just one look at his video for Without You will have you laughing like a diseased gibbon. And if you don't at least chuckle you're clinically dead. Check it out below: Of course, if you're one of the 1.7 million [...]

Dude, you gotta hear this. It's the Thursday before the end of summer, so I expect you're already holding some sort of alcoholic beverage. That will be helpful. Take another sip. Listen to this and think about all you accomplished this summer - being outdoors, getting sunburned, goofing off, taxing your liver. I know how it is. That's the lead track off the EP "Summer Vacation," released digitally last month by San Diego band DUDES in an effort to translate summer into music. It's a success. It sounds like summer - sort [...]

St. Louis is mostly known for beer and baseball- and those few years in a row where it was ranked as the country's most dangerous city, but Detroit took that title from them recently. While some of music's most famous stars are from the St. Louis area (Miles Davis, Chuck Berry, and Ike Turner to name just a few), it has never been a well-known music town. Growing up in the area, I remember the closest St. Louis came to widespread fame was The Urge's "Jump Right In" playing on MTV, and being the closest major city to where Jeff [...]

Yeah, sure, “L’il Devil” was the big and ballsy Electric -era return of the Cult you’d want, the first off the top, but it wasn’t until the third, “Rain”, that I remembered how I used to parse all the lyrics from the LOVE album and that it’s been 24 years since I actually met the band. And kid-kissed Billy Duffy. And used to take a picture of me with Siouxsie and the Banshees eye makeup being clutched by then-bassist Jamie Stewart, into exams for good luck. Back when [...]

I am amazed by the amount of the amount of dust that I'm still finding in places after Outside Lands this year... Yes, it was good fun, but it's time to enjoy some music indoors, over concrete. And, well, we've got a wonderful week of excellent music on our docket. Thursday, August 16th Cherry Poppin' [...]
YOU may have noticed, on the about the author thingy on the right of this post, reference to 'cult' acts I have been part of. One of these was 'underground' act The Haze - and cleaning out my attic I found a CD of creations! Listen to one above and visit http://soundcloud.com/isaacash e for more, including free downloads.
Here's something I wrote when Jaz Coleman disappeared last month: "It would be really great if this was like when Five Finger Death Punch misplaced one of their members a few years ago, and it turned out he was just, like, at the bar or something and it was all no biggie." Semi-related: You guys will never [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Killing Joke Facebook Almost two weeks after reportedly going missing , which put a tour with The Cult and The Mission UK in jeopardy and his welfare into question, Killing Joke singer Jaz Coleman has been found alive and well. "To the relief of family and friends, Killing Joke front man Jaz Coleman appeared today from his retreat in the Western [...]

“Ah fuck it, let’s throw some sweet parties!” I’m sure this is exactly what Danny Beusa and BC Michaels of DUNE RATS said when they came up with the idea of throwing a string of Suburban Beach Parties around Australia. The Brisbane band have come a long way with their infectious surf-punk tunes. Their growing achievements list consist of having supported the likes of Best Coast , The Drums , Cults , Ariel Pink and Bleeding Knees [...]
You know you've met a true Guns N' Roses nerd when he or she gets a joke about Matt Sorum's drum fills on the Use Your Illusion albums. For reasons that are baffling to pretty much everyone, Sorum, who was replacing fired skinsman Steven Adler, decided that the best way to demonstrate the dynamic quality of [...]
A DECADE after the release of his one and only album, the two-disc scattergun genius of Headphone Masterpiece, Cody ChesnuTT is set to release new material. The cult troubadour and Roots collaborator's new album will be called Landing On A Hundred, and out in October. A spokesman said: "Landing On A Hundred was recorded with a ten-piece band in Memphis-based Royal Studios, the sonic birthplace of some of the deepest works by soul and blues luminaries like Al Green, Buddy Guy and Ike & Tina Turner." Listen to a taster, That's Still Mama, above.
