More than any other day, Saturday at Bonnaroo was filled with things that could only really happen at the Farm, among them, Bjrk's jellyfish facemask thing , R. Kelly entering on a boom crane, a 5k at 9 in the morning (in 80 degree heat), and a moment where Jim James, R. Kelly, Billy Idol, and John Oates were all on the same stage. For the second installment of the annual Great GoogaMooga festival, the organizers (Superfly Presents) pulled out all the stops to overcome the setbacks of their highly-criticized inaugural event. Unfortunately, they couldn't control the weather, and the culinary marathon was cut short on its third and final day. However, for the fortunate 20,000 foodies who made it out on the first two days, they enjoyed quite the treat (apart from the 85 eateries who participated along with over 100 wines and 75 local brews). Photography by Melissa Scheinberg Last weekend marked Boston'sinaugural Boston Calling Festival: a two stage festival right in the heart of Boston. Despite the rain, the festival ran smoothly and proved to be one of the most well-run and manageable festivals I've been to: re-entry allowed people to head into the city for dinner, no-overlapping sets barred any heart-wrenching conflicts, and a prime location ensured easy access. As there were no overlapping sets, I was able to catch the majority of pretty much every set. It's been another busy spring of concert announcements coming from all angles. And spring is quickly turning into summer and those shows are more than announcements, they are happening, and soon. One of the next ones we are excited about is with Passion Pit and Cults. We are fans of both bands and think it's a killer bill for a show here in Cincinnati. However, when we saw it was booked at US Bank Arena, we had our doubts. After all, it seems like an awfully big space for those bands, even though they are on the rise. Voodoo Experience has revealed the preliminary lineup for this year's festival, which takes place November 1st - 3rd at New Orleans' City Park Festival Grounds.
