[LOCAL] The Current has announced its lineup for this year's Rock The Garden and it's a goodie! The Hold Steady, Trampled by Turtles, Doomtree, Tune-Yards and Howler make up the annual Minnesota music get-together, which takes place on 6/16, and I'd like to tip my hat to The Current for a job well done.

Sharing a name with a video game that literally scarred a childhood is not something that would raise interest but Detroit electro-based duo Phantasmagoria 's 'Dunes' made the exception. Closing in at almost four minutes, the captivating track is set to appear on their debut project ' Currents ' which will see daylight this Summer. They've got all the elements in place to be your next trip hop faves. Jam out to this little lovely below.

A while back, I was introduced to local rock group Hero Gets the Girl and really like the one sone song I heard and thought the band had a lot of potential. They debuted last winter with a show at The National and over the last few months they have been recording for an upcoming release. I'm really digging what I'm hearing and look forward to hear more from these guys. Hero Gets the Girl will play at Current with Siyani and the 101s on Friday, March 30. [...]

Google is a constant innovator and the developer of one of the most useful tools ever invented in modern society. I first saw Delta Spirit in March of 2007 as an opening act for Cold War Kids . It was love at first sight/listen. If you are an avid reader of MTIB, this isn't a new story to you. Delta Spirit stole the show (sorry Cold War Kids, what's true is true). I went home and immediately bought their first EP off iTunes and started force-feeding it to my friends. I became so obsessed I went ahead and created the beginnings of their Wikipedia page, of which only a few of my original lines of text [...]

Doldrums Winter Music Festival (Not to be confused with the musician ) held their third night at Cafe Dekcuf. The acts that I happened to see were: • Heavy Bedroom Finally a band shot of them. • Currents • Yes Please and Thank You This festival celebrates and showcases a [...]

I first heard Zoo Animal playing at an old church off of Lyndale Avenue. Performing on a stage where the altar would be, they made those old church walls resonate with a low, subdued, rumble. A room filling sound, that wasn't harsh, but certainly had a bite to it. The song "The Too Men" from their latest EP Departure , is a noticeable change of pace. A song forged on silence, built around a lone voice and a solo guitar, "The Too Men" is a somber affair. Singer Holly Newsom has a beautiful voice, and sings with a hushed [...]
