One of my favorite albums of the past couple months has been the debut album Summer Heart from the (inevitably dubbed chill wave) band Blackbird Blackbird . I can't quite put my finger on it, but its lush electronic layers along with catchy snippets throughout each song really make for a great listen. In my rather spastic excitement over the upcoming Floating Fest at CMJ I somehow missed that Mikey from Blackbird Blackbird (who's playing for free that night) created a new moniker / band / persona / alter ego known as Cursed Kids . Apparently he's creating so much music that he can't possibly release it all as the quickly-rising Blackbird Blackbird . So there he goes again, making everyone else look bad.
