Foster The People - Torches [...]
.:: Tops antigos neste blog: 1. Top '05, #3; 2. Top '05, #2; 3. Top '05; 4.

BEST OF 2011 Some might say 2011 was the year of The Gos but don't let that distract you from remembering all the great music! Here are my favorite albums of the year (in no particular order)! tUnE-yArDs - w h o k i l l - "Bizness" Girls - Father, Son, Holy Ghost - "Honey Bunny" Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues - Helplessness Blues" Cut Copy - Zonoscope [...]

So here it is...in no real particular order, my best albums of 2011 list. It was definitely a great year for music. I had many of these albums of repeat for several days, if not weeks, straight. 2011 was also an amazing year for Canadian musicians - check out Spinner Canada's article, " 2011: The Year Canadian Music Broke ." Adele - 21 Adele - Turning Tables Bon Iver - Bon Iver Bon Iver - Michicant [...]
wowz. This has been so amazingly difficult. It's been a year of evolution in regards to my music taste - a year when maamf featured perhaps more local stuff than ever before, and a year when the local scene in general was pretty freaking strong. It's also been a year where my taste has gotten [...]

Another year has passed and 2011 has left us with some amazing albums! Here is a list I compiled from my favorites as well as favorites from fellow contributors Michael and Erika . We all have slightly different tastes so together it leaves us with a nice representation of the year. These are in no particular order (that would be too difficult to do). Enjoy and thanks for listening! Hooray for Earth :: True Loves [...]

Tweet vaso link Why not create a list that's not limited to albums? Actually, I stole the idea to do a 'Favorites' list from Andy after telling him the struggles of choosing my top 10 albums. Sorry, Andy, but it's a damn fine idea. Perfect for someone so musically indecisive as myself. Instead of having to listen to and rank album after album, I was able to thumb through my mind and rabbit-ear the songs I incessantly repeated, the few [...]

Album #5: Hurry Up, We're Dreaming by M83 M832s Anthony Gonzalez has never shied away from ambition, but even by M83 standards Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is an extremely ambitious album. Beyond being a double album, Hurry Up is grandiose and bombastic and it constantly demands that the listener pay attention. And if you do you're rewarded with a blissful electro-rock record. On a song by song basis, Hurry Up might be M832s strongest record yet. The album opens with the amazing Intro - a duet [...]

A little bit late on this one, but thought I would share for those that are straggling.. I am constantly astounded at how few decent Cut Copy remixes there are out there. Everytime I listen to one of their albums, all I hear is non stop remix gold and I really think that only a couple of remixers have done these tracks justice. Andrew Weatherall is one such remixer with his recent take on epic 'Zonoscope' closer 'Sun God'. I wouldn't expect any [...]

With the horizon of a new year seemingly inches away, we're proud to present our best songs of 2011. We have been slaving over albums and hidden tracks for the past month, but now the beginning of our five-part list of the best of the best. 100. Maritime - Paraphernalia The charmer of Human Hearts held the ethereal appeal from a group we come back to with each new record. The group signed with Dangerbird this year and we only see bright things in their future. [...]
We're still working on the Best Albums of 2011 list, but in the meantime here's my annual recap of my favorite live shows of the year. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch as many concerts in 2011 as I typically do (getting old I guess?), but I still managed to see quite a few memorable shows. I chose the 15 shows of 2011 that I loved the most for this list. Make sure to visit the musicforants.com flickr page to check out all my concert pictures from this year. 15. Youth Lagoon @ Canopy Club [...]

This list was an extremely easy one to do, however, like any lists, I'm sure I've left off more than I care to remember. All I had to do is go to iTunes and click on the songs I played most in 2011. POW! If it were only that easy. Here's a small sampling of my favorite songs of 2011 and I wish the rest of that M83 albums was like "Midnight City." Sigh. C=T Favorite Songs of 2011 Tracklist M83 Midnight City Fred Falke Aurora Cut [...]

Whomadewho - Inside World By Stef Siepel The weekly froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer's fancy. After this will be a slight Holiday break, but don't worry, come January we'll be back with this one in a hurry. Happy holidays everybody and have a little fun, do a little dance, and get down [...]
It's been pretty quiet around here for awhile (so quiet that we're pretty sure just our mom's are checking this thing at this point) (hi moms!), but even though we haven't been writing all that much, we promise we've still been listening to loads of good music. So putting this list together has been a good chance for us to finally put down how we feel about some of the great stuff we've heard this year. We just hope it's as fun for you to browse through as it was for us to pull together! Before reading on, [...]

The list. 20 songs that enhanced my life. Different from last year , here we have mostly short thoughts rather than stories and anecdotes. A playlist of the past 365 days. My soundtrack of 2011. ~~~ 20 • Beirut • Goshen We begin with a glorious piano and Zach Condon's long-lost voice singing about loss and a price paid. Then [...]
