:: Paul McCartney will be reissuing his post- Beatles catalog . I'm reminded of a great Simpsons moment. Cult deprogrammer: "My greatest achievement was getting Paul McCartney out of Wings ." Homer: "You idiot! He was the most talented one!" :: Nothing says metal like Every Time I Die and Cute Is What We Aim For ... or at least that's what former ETID and current CIWWAF drummer Mike Novak might have you believe. Also, feel free to make fun of the picture in the [...]

Cute Is What We Aim For will have to be cute on their own, because the band has decided to break up after their journey as a band for four years. Announced on Twitter(seems to be a common place for celebs to cut to the chase-i.e. Paula Abdul?), lead singer Shaant Hacikyan said he would be going solo. BUT the band's bassist Dave Melillo is quoted in Alternative Press that the band had split up because of Hacikyan's attitude. "At the beginning of August I let Shaant know I was leaving the band..." he said. "At the beginning of July [...]

Way back in 2007, Kyle Even and David Schmitt of Breathe Carolina self-released their debut EP Gossip . Their path to that point path follows a common trend for emerging bands which includes GarageBand, MySpace, and iTunes. They're creating their own online base of fans, a petition of sorts, to present to the record companies. For Denver's Breath Carolina, at least, it seems to be working out quite well. Their latest release on Fearless Records , Hello Fascination , continues in the style [...]

[Birthday candles Sunday for both Ry Cooder and Sly Stone on what will be a very busy weekend ...] Tonight: Van Nuys-based imprint Hopeless/Sub City Records has been doing good things for years with its charity outreach, and its eight annual Take Action Tour, with DoSomething.org as this year's beneficiary (the group will get three $1,000 grants), hits the House of Blues with Buffalo, N.Y., emo-rockers Cute Is What We Aim For as the headliner. I'm more curious to hear the [...]
:: I missed this somehow (I think because I suck), but the annual Take Action Tour started last week. This year's lineup includes Cute Is What We Aim For , Breathe Carolina , Meg & Dia , Every Avenue and Anarbor . :: Commin' Home , the single from Cheeseburger and Adult Swim's Superjail! is now available on iTunes . :: Nas and his lady are expecting a son in the coming months. Also, he has this message [...]
Since 1999, Take Action has been pairing charity and music. As the 2009 Take Action Tour takes off, guitarist Dave Melillo of headliner Cute Is What We Aim For gave Bethany a call to talk about the tour and the band. Bethany, PopWreckoning: So you guys are getting ready to go out on the Take Action Tour. I noticed on your website you guys also list out favorite charities. Why is this tour important to you and why is it important to encourage your fans to [...]
It's that time of year again, nearing the end of 2008 and the lists have already begun appearing. I always love the opportunity to share with you music that I enjoy, which has been the whole reason I began writing in the first place. This year powerpop has taken another step in the right direction, quickly growing out of its harsh "tweenie" labels. Of course, even if it never does I'll still be feeling young, rocking out to music that is exciting, catchy and down right fun. While there are no specific requirements to get on this list, all these [...]

Helen Halbert is my new favorite show reviewer in the world. She attended a recent concert which featured Simple Plan (above), Faber Drive , Cute Is What We Aim For and Metro Station - and she reported it was a snoozer! Each band's forgettable brand of emo pop was greeted largely with indifference, despite surefire rabble-rousing ways like a swear word shout-along. They also learned early on not to play call-and-response with an audience unfamiliar with their latest MySpace hits. Oh, [...]
