![[Best of 2011] Dave's List](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3949253_lg.jpg)
Tweet vaso link The year in music that was/is 2011 marked a departure from the prior two in which this blog has been in existence. This in the sense that, as opposed to waiting for albums from bigger bands one could classify as a favorite, there were far more unanticipated discoveries. I often talk of expectations, but this year I had few. For this year end list, I whittled down the list of the year's albums slowly to include those [...]

I think it's about time we give the LA based three-piece Dakotafish a few more good words, especially after the release of their (in my opinion) long-awaited debut full-lenght Many Moons , which most definitely deserves more than only 4600 plays on last.fm . Our good friends over at I Guess I'm Floating even introduced us to Mike Fish and his band as early as three years ago , but didn't for some reason get any more blog hype around their music before releasing the ridiculously catchy single [...]
Dakotafish - Midnight Lemonade

Many Moons by Dakotafish Great album from LA's Dakotafish for the low, low price of name your own price free (I exercise all opportunities for that cross-out gimmick). At times reminds me of Junior Boys, Local Natives, Foster The People and other bands I like. Really great, consistent summer record. Throw it on and stay hydrated, friends. By the way just because there's no limit on 'name your price' doesn't mean you shouldn't donate some cash! Next time you're at a restaurant just leave a short tip [...]

Many Moons : Dakota Fish - Many Moons I know I'm a bit late on this one, starting new jobs, finding new routines, etc. But this album is too good, and too big not to post. These dudes have become some solid show buddies over the past year, and hearing about the process of making an album like this. The months (maybe years) of laboring that went into this album is evident through every track. Click [...]

Here's another new song from from Mike Fish and his project known as Dakotafish . This new pop styled jam comes from recent album Many Moons which is available for purchase/stream on the Dakotafish bandcamp . Hope you enjoy. Download: Dakotafish - Great Ones [mp3]
Dakotafish - We Were Like Gods I first featured "Jitter" from Mike Fish's Dakotafish project last summer, and I had a feeling there was much more... (Visit my blog for more!)

Dakotafish = Great Ones LA based Dakotafish are about the nicest guys you'll hope to meet. They hit us last summer with two awesome singles Jitter and Impossible Histories , both glittering and bouncing with sunlight and summer. And just as seasonally appropriate as those were, the new Great Ones is just as appropriate for the current season. A bit of a departure from the synth based electronics [...]
I can't exactly put my finger on what it is that makes Dakotafish feel familiar. Maybe it's the soaring falsetto that lead singer Mike so effortlessly uses. Maybe it's the chunky Eighties vibe that the duo makes feel equally effortless. I think it's probably some of both, to be honest. The group has released a [...]

Dakota Fish Dakota Fish - Jitter ( mp3 )

Today, words can't seem to flow very easily for some reason — all though I have about a thousand things to say about this splendid synthpop/alternative project Dakotafish from the rural California. In fact, I wonder why Jitter isn't already a radio hit. Download for free here . Dakotafish - Jitter
So while recently looking back on our earliest days here at ATH, I skimmed over on an almost 2 year old post about our least favorite things in the music world . If you don't care to read that old piece of journalism, it was more a focus on trends in the extremely popular media world. We ranted on myspace, the loudness of some new rock bands, and the decline of albums as an art form. Looking back, I'd say myspace is really on it's way out, loudness is a declining trend and albums seem to be on the [...]
Dakotafish - Jitter Mike from Dakotafish dropped some new tunes on me the other day which I've been jamming out to on my way to work. "Jitter" is... (Visit my blog for more!)

It's been quite awhile since we've heard from Mike Fish and his very own version of chillwave known as Dakotafish . Having been looking forward to what this dude creates, I was happy to get a couple of his new tracks in my inbox the other day. One new track "Jitter" can be downloaded and streamed below. The other new one is available for free download on the Dakotafish website . I digs. Download: Dakotafish - Jitter [MP3]

Dakota Fish , project of underrated songwriter Mike Fish, just finished recording a new 4 song EP and it's free to download . The new EP is called Motion In Relation to Other Objects and dropped on the Dakota Fish website last month. Here's a preview of the free EP with track "Last Time". You are correct, it does sound a lot like older Radiohead . Download: Dakota Fish - Last Time [MP3]

Under the moniker of Dakotafish, Mike Fish has just recently come out with a brand new EP, Motion in Relation to Other Objects, that's available as a free download on his website. First of all, the album artwork, work of Sir Austin Lane, is a feast for the eyes. It matches the title perfectly. I have been listening to the EP, and I have to say that I'm very impressed. His voice echoes through all 4 songs in perfect harmony with the percussion and beats in the background. One of the highlights of this EP is [...]

Genre: Folk, electronic, orchestral Weird name, huh? Dakotafish is the project of musician, Mike Fish, that was formed in 2007 in San Diego, CA. Blending beats, vocals & orchestral arrangements flawlessly, Mike Fish could easily become a leading musician in the indie scene. Also, I can't stress enough how much he sounds like Thom Yorke, so if you're a Radiohead fan...or not, give this guy a listen. mp3: Dakotafish - Landlocked

For all those Radiohead fans out there, I recommend keeping a very close eye on Mike Fish, also known as Dakotafish. Though his music is a more instrumental based than Radiohead, a little folkier, I won't be the first person, and definitely not the last, to acknowledge how similar his vocals are to Thom Yorke. It's eerie. I am extremely impressed with the four tracks on his self-titled EP, and if Fish's debut is as memorizing as this EP, I could easily see him becoming a leading musician in the indie scene. His blend of beats and guitar [...]
