In between liberating previously unheard tracks and working on his next full-length, Dam-Funk has been in the studio collaborating with a group of artists. Apparently we'll be hearing some tracks with Snoop Dogg in the near future along with more joints with singer Leon Sylvers IV. He's the son of Motown artist Leon Sylver III, who actually provides some back-up vocals on romantic new cut "There's Nothin' Better". You can stream it and make your day exponentially better below.

As Dam-Funk tells it , "Obsessed" was recorded on a "lonely & hazy, summer day" back in 1993. That's when he was crafting the tunes that would much later land on Adolescent Funk , a 2010 release compiling a slew of jams from his younger years. After giving this one a few spins, I'm feeling like Dam should get all the leftovers that didn't make Adolescent Funk and put out a sequel of sorts. That's up to him, of course, but the world could use more releases from the L.A. boogie king.

An outtake, 2 hold everyone 'who cares' over, until my strict new track leaking ban is over until the release of my return official 2nd 'full length' album is ready. This one never made it on my 2009 Stones Throw released debut: "Toeachizown". There's a vocal version as well, but here's the instro 2day 4 U. Just sharing some now + holding on 2 them, for future purposes or just personal listening & studies.

Even though he's still on a self-imposed ban of dropping free tracks, Dam-Funk couldn't continue going on without sharing some never-before-heard material with his fans. Good, because I have been starting to feel like my weeks have been missing something without his Soundcloud treats appearing in my news feed. His latest drop is "I Wish U Felt The Same", a head-nodding tune from the sessions for 20092s Toeachizown . Apparently a vocal version also exists, but for now we're going to just ride out to this instrumental take. Listen below.
![Dam Funk & Master Blazter – More Bounce 2 The Ounce [audio]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4920481_lg.jpg)
Recorded live by Devin McManus at Club Downunder in Tallahassee on October 10th 2011, covering "More Bounce 2 the Ounce" from one of the greatest modern-funk albums of all time: ZAPP. via Stones Throw

Is there anyone more suited to cover a classic Zapp joint like "More Bounce 2 The Ounce" than Dam-Funk ? Of course there isn't. And during his 2011 tour with Master Blazter , someone was able to get some killer audio of the trio performing the track in Tallahassee, Fla.'s Club Downunder. This was, of course, prior to the tragic death of drummer Jovan Coleman aka J-1 aka The Deer. RIP J-1. You can download/stream the remix below.

There are far more than two kinds of Dam-Funk songs, but for the purposes of this post, let's just say that there are two primary categories. There are the synth boogie self-help guides that consist of Dam crooning inspiration to get you through the dregs of your day. They are the sort of songs that could be hopelessly corny in the wrong hands, but come off like holy writ when sung with the passion, grit, and determination that comes from struggling to achieve your life dreams for a long time and then finally succeeding in great fashion. Also, it is [...]

If you asked me back before I started working on this blog if I would be listening to funk now, I probably would be saying that I'd highly doubt it. But, let's be honest there really are not many modern funk producers/bands that really are grabbing anyone's attention. That is, until I discovered the West Coast boogie master Dam-Funk . He has been deliver tons of free treats for everyone and again let's one more loose called "Levitate From It All." According to his Soundcloud, this is the last free track he is letting out before he releases something [...]

For me, Dam-Funk 's music is the best either on a Monday morning when I'm desperately in need of his good vibes or on the weekend when I'm kicked back and loving life. So as we're just about ready to transition into the work week, let's thank the West Coast boogie king for his latest Soundcloud gift, "Levitate From It All". It just so happens to be his final free track before he drops something on us this summer. Here's how Dam described the cut: 'Levitate from this sh*t. U can do [...]

Who: Dam-Funk on the main stage In 3 or Fewer Words: Funky happy people. Memorable Because: It takes some gnarly keyboard manipulation into fooling you there is a guitar on stage when there's not, but funk maestro Dam-Funk had a groove that was twice as heavy as his light crowd. Although, paired with positive messages in songs like "OBE (Out of Body Experience)" and "Mirrors," it didn't take long for his "funkster" count to double among the faithful, who shook their rumps in the blazing heat. Because when Dam-Funk asks you to bounce, you [...]
It’s Friday afternoon, which means that we’re resolutely ignoring the rain as we contemplate the weekend, and also looking back over the best new songs we heard this week. Over the last seven days, we've gotten all gloomily excited about the new National album, reminded ourselves that Jay-Z can still actually rap every so often, got all summery to new songs by Beaches and Woods, marveled at how beautiful the new Eluvium track is, enjoyed new stuff from Standish/Carlyon and Tin Trails, and more. All these tracks await you below — get streaming and/or downloading, readers! [...]

Dām-Funk drops another joint he has stacked, this time he gives us the Gap Band-inspired "It's So Good 2 Be Alive". Dām-Funk = It's So Good 2 Be Alive" -mp3

This song is pretty straight forward. Times are good, Dam-Funk is playing Coachella, and we get to jam to some new rhythms. Here is what Dam had to say about this piano-driven ode to life: Self explanatory. *Embrace life & keep pushin’. Peace & L.A. area friends…. see U at Coachella on both Friday’s. Stream "It's So Good 2 Be Alive" below.
For no real reason beyond his inherently generous soul, the sticky-synth wizard has posted a free new song online, one that pretty much screams summertime in California. This one is called "It's So Good 2 Be Alive," and it's a breezily gorgeous shimmer of a tune, the type of song that makes an already-sunny morning feel sunnier. Download it below. Read More...
If so, your reward awaits. I'm gonna stop interviewing people, because I'll never be able to top this. From Passion of the Weiss .

Everyone knows that post-nightclub sex is often clumsy, sweaty, and regrettable. But if, like Tweet purrs in her 2002 collaboration with Missy Elliott, you're "still so high, hypnotised, in a trance", apparently all the awkward moments are neatly obscured. Judging by the rest of the lyrics, that grunting tangle of limbs that's writhing around in the middle of your living room floor can seem like the sauciest, most smouldering sex anyone's ever had if you're not paying attention. Remixing the original tune into the sound of the moment - deep house - is possibly the most effective way [...]
