Despite residing in my home state for most of this blog's existence, having toured with one of my favorite bands ( The Builders and The Butchers ), and their latest album, Go And Sell All Of Your Things , having been out since April 2011, this is Damion and Co's first appearance on ninebullets.net. This is more a statement of my failure as a blogger than anything else and I am here to make amends. Damion Suomi is the singer/acoustic guitar player and The Minor Prophets and they are Gavin Little, David Fountain, Ian Little and Zac [...]

Builders and the Butchers played with Damion Suomi last week at the Summit. My favorite part of the show was that their tour lanyard had a photo of Gene Wilder on it (along with great music from both bands!) [...]
On Joyful Wings presents a tribute to Seven Swans by Sufjan Stevens to benefit the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

"Seven Swans Reimagined" is released by On Joyful Wings , a project that benefits the Susan G. Komen foundation . This is the label's second project. The album Seven Swans is organized around a series of bible verses. Seven is Christan special number, referring to completeness, and referenced in the Book of Revelation. FWIW, the seven swans from "The 12 Days of Christmas" are said to refer to the the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: prophecy, ministry, teaching, exhortation, giving, leading and compassion. [...]

<img src=" http://www.box.net/shared/stat ic/p2mcbf90om.jpg" Damion Suomi is back with a slightly new moniker. On April 12th, Go, And Sell All Of Your Things will be released by Damion Suomi And The Minor Prophets . Still not sure if the addition is permanent for Mr. Suomi. Back to the basics it seems. Hit the tracklisting below and listen to "Mustard Seed" which was released on an EP last year. MP3 // Mustard Seed Preorder // Go, And Sell All [...]

Murder by Death Beards, Whiskey, and Banjos. That is what filled the Bottom of the Hill the night Murder by Death, The Builders and The Butchers, and Damion Suomi descended upon the venue. While I was leaning toward The Builders and The Butchers' live showcase, I was pleasantly surprised by both the opening act and of course the main event, Murder by Death . Alt-country, calculated pop, or eerie emanations of bygone dusky barnyard sessions? Florida-native Damion Suomi is all of these things on his self-titled release from P is for Panda . For those that like their music interesting, bear through his opener, "Archer Women" for the good stuff in "Darwin, Jesus, The Devil & Me" and "San Francisco." Those songs have the indie hollowness of Iron and Wine with the rootsy energy of The Avett Brothers. Like the slow piece-by-piece demolition of a glorious honky-tonk saloon. Southern tour dates and vid of "Darwin, Jesus, The Devil & Me." [...]
The cool kids over at P Is For Panda recently released singer-songwriter Damion Suomi's self-titled full-length and I've definitely been digging his easy Americana-pop ways. The album itself is actually pretty simple and is focused around Suomi's vocals (which are oftentimes very Michael Stipe like) and his acoustic guitar more than anything else even when augmented by drums or other instruments. Strangely, though, for as much as I keep telling myself this is just above average singer-songwriter fare, I'm drawn into these songs every time I listen. I just can't help it. Whether [...]

A belated and gigantic THANK YOU to my friend Carly for introducing to the music of Damon Suomi. She brilliantly described his sound as, and I quote "It's like Michael Stipe ate Adam Duritz and then started a bar band!" I could not concur more! I have been playing his self titled debut album daily since she hooked me up. Here is my favorite tune...at least my favorite tune at this exact moment. * 'San Fransisco' MP3

It's taken me a while to wrap my head around the fact the NYC-based singer/songwriter Damion Suomi is not actually from Finland. As a hockey fan I can't shake the image of that world splashed across the front of Teemu Selanne's jersey.Despite his lack of Finnish, Suomi has just released a remarkable debut album creatively titled Self Titled.Suomi creates full band folk music and rolls it up nice

P Is For Panda Records just released Damion Suomi's , self-titled debut album, and it's a little bit country and a little bit folk. Damion Suomi's self-titled debut was produced by Matt Malpass (Relient K, Copeland, Lydia) and recorded at his Marigolds + Monsters studio in Atlanta, GA. Featuring 10 tracks, the album has Andy Lee (ex-Cartel, Right Away Great Captain!) contributing his musical talents on drums, guitar and pedal steel along with the warm guest vocals of Brittany Painter (of Alabama-based band The Bridges) on One More Time. Damion explains that, These songs [...]

Folk songwriter Damion Suomi will be releasing his debut album, Self Titled , in stores next week, though the record is already available at P is for Panda to download if you feel the need to get a hold of it sooner. Suomi makes emotionally charged folk-rock tunes, which he says were influenced by Irish culture, with the drinking, the pubs, and the drinking at pubs to deal with lost and broken relationships. The record feels grounded and familiar in the best possible way, "a mix of hope and despair," says Suomi, that makes for another of [...]

Wooohoo it's tuesday and time for Hvis musik var mad, ville jeg være verdens tykkeste person which btw. directly translated means "If music were food I would be the world's fattest person". Today we have songs from three danish bands: Balstyrko , The William Blakes and BliGlad . I really really really recommend listening to them, especially [...]

It's always refreshing to find an artist who rises above the crowded singer/songwriter scene. New arrival Damion Suomi (Sue-Me) is one such diamond in the rough and an exciting recent discovery for me. Suomi writes down-to-earth tunes inspired by Irish culture; as he describes it, "these songs were birthed from pubs, drinks, and relationships." Truly, his melancholy, yet hopeful, music is the perfect soundtrack for last calls on cold, lonely nights or for quiet, reflective moments. His sound is simple and timeless, a path well traveled but a welcome stroll just the same. His [...]
