It's nice to be back. I hope we were missed. And what better way to kick things off again with Tokyo-based prodigy, NARCTRAX's official remix of Damn Arms' The Not So Progressive Punks, which has been burning a hole in my brain for about a week now. NARCTRAX is our lucky star. I couldn't have imagined it to be any better than it's turned out to be. Unlike the lighter, synth-oriented Damn Arms remixes that have been floating around of late, Van Narc's synth-application is superb, taking nothing away from the heavy, distorted quality of the original, rendering [...]

It is that time of the month again but thankfully there will be no bitching in this cycle. It is time for the next installment of A Derogatory Playlist!. The songs below stretch over a longer time period then my last few playlists as I have taken a little longer this month to get through enough songs that I am happy with. The playlist runs through a few different styles of music from disco, to pop, to house, to rock but all with electro mixed throughout. [...]

We got some annoyingly shitty news this morning and thus my mood is reflected in the above picture (I is agro not...you know, furry and with a hand up my arse). I've got some special stuff on the horizon but in the meantime, here's a couple of remixes from the Damn Arms remix competition. We've featured Fabian before and his mix is another excellent showing from this kid. Very nice. On top of that there's one from Kurtz who stretches things out to seven minutes. It outstays its welcome a bit but I do [...]

Perth has longed for the arrival of neon-glo knights and they were finally here. Damn Arms, a Melbourne-based band opened to a fluoro army of audience in the sold-out gig. As part of a crop of new wavers from down under, the band proved to be an adequate support with their angular guitars and electro sound. Damn Arms played a mix set of tracks from old EPs and new full debut 'The Live Artex'. [...]

This really has been getting an absolute blogging flogging this past week, but this is too bloody good to not post. And besides, you all know by now that this has been a very Damn Arms -y year for me, so when Tybalt got their hands on Edie , I was bound to love it to bits. The Sydney kids ditch the original's almost prog-funk in favour of a glammed up electro romp around your nearest roller disco. If that made sense. In short, it rules. Let's hope we hear more from these kids soon. Excellent [...]

Hands & Arms: kinda strange that the two bands Tybalt has remixed are Damn Arms and Cut Off Your Hands . Trend? I dunno - but the appendage-band remixes stop there as their next will be for Brooklyn's Telepathe . "Edie" might be my favorite track off Damn Arm's The Live Artex , and Tybalt does the song justice by creating a timeless electro remix that reminds me a bit of a noisier Cybotron track or something. This mix is in good company - look for a release of "Edie" with [...]

Yooooo, ok so below I just talked up the Stardust 5 track saying it was one of my favourite tracks this year. Well I'm going to ruin the surprise in regards to my top 10 fo' 07 poll, this track well I mean the original lays numero uno for 2007. Our main man Tybalt again puts out another dope reworking - jus' how I like it, bass heavy and pretty. Big future? Damn Arms - Edie (TYBALT REMIX)

At the risk of turning this blog into an unofficial Damn Arms fan-site (let me get a page up on Angel Fire or Geocities. N3RdZ!!) here's a brilliant remix of their track, The Boss , off of their equally brilliant album, The Live Artex . Choreo takes the remixing reins on this one, pumping it up with a stomping little beat and synths drenched in an '80s neon-glow. Yum yum! Damn Arms - The Boss (Choreo Remix) I told y'all he's been killing it lately. [...]

You may remember me posting about just how good Damn Arms have gotten lately. It was here, and also, way back here. But that's not enough. I think they're really good. No, scratch that. They're great. Their debut disc, The Live Artex , only dropped down here in Australia about a month ago and has since been on heavy rotation. It's a brilliant and strong effort from the four boys, full of ambition and unexpected hooks which make each track unique over the ten song album. If that sounds like I'm bullshitting, just remember, [...]

Fuckkkkkkk! I'm stressing so hard over what to dribble. The Live Artex deserves every positive adjective I could blow on the keys, from dope to sooo dope to amazing to aaah... incredible. I haven't been this happy with a LP in sooooo long with the repetition of the 'o's paying to direct homage to how loooooong it has actually been. Hats off to the guys for putting out something worth all the green you can throw at it. Props again for an incredibly dope bass-line/track. Buy The Live Artex from your local store or online@ITUNES + [...]

And we're back. Apologies to everyone who have been checking back regularly to find nothing but L-Lo blowing some dude on a boat. Frightening stuff. I've been snowed under with exams (still am too) and grappling with a fancy new server (fingers crossed...) so getting the blog back together has been an arduous task. But thankyou to all the readers and especially JD and DGIU and above all else my girlfriend for bugging me to get this crap together. But here we are, I hope it was worth the wait. [...]

The rather excellent London based label Something In Construction have unleashed their brand spanking new website onto the public today. It features a whole bevvy of information on their current roster plus up to date news, shop and a rather nice links section that says rather nice things about this very site. Check it out here . Also currently available to download for free is the most recent Something In Construction label sampler which features a whole host of TLOBF favourties. Download the sampler below [...]

Cheeky Calvin Harris remix, Kissy Sell Out, like itt.. And Damn Arms remix by Passions - nice dancy mess. Calvin Harris - Merrymaking At My Place (Kissy Sell Out Remix) Damn Arms - Home Wrecker (Passions Remix)

Passions teams up with Math Head on this mp3 that will have the dance floors crowded. This is unfinished and unmastered so it has the potential to get even better - but there's not too much room to improve on... "Turn The Music Up" bounces between classic 90s house and cutting edge electro and merits both its rough and soft moments. Math Head X Passions - "Turn The Music Up" (rough mix) (mp3) A picture is worth a [...]

Yay! I've got an all Aussie post to flaunt some homegrown talent and brag about how cool our country is. First up, Sydney electro machine Whitenoise is secretly taking over the world with music so crunchy it sounds like a symphony of apples being eaten. Check out his ridiculously good remix of Bag Raiders ' 'Fun Punch' which adds some delicious beef to the already fantastic roast vegetables of the original song. What the fuck are these metaphors? I'm hungry.. Anyway, play it in a club and you will be a true hero. Also, enjoy his own [...]

Besonders freut [...]
