On May 8th, the soundtrack to Damon Albarn 's Dr. Dee opera will be released through Virgin Records, and is now available to stream in full via NPR.org . The opera and soundtrack were inspired by 18th-century mathmetician and Elizabeth I advisor John Dee, and Albarn has created eighteen tracks with this to guide him. The sountrack boasts eighteen tracks, all of which were recorded by Albarn in his West London studio as well as with the help of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in Salford. Last year Manchester played host to Damon Albarn 's opera, Dr Dee, and on May 8th he is set to release the music he created for that show via Virgin Music. On July 30th, Blur will celebrate their 21st and possibly final year together with a massive reissue campaign. All seven of the band's studio albums will be re-released in newly expanded Special Edition formats, each featuring a bonus disc of previously unreleased material, expanded booklets, unseen photographs, and more.
