Factory 25 have made available on Vimeo Naomi Yang's "Japanese Scrapbook" video that was previously only available on the 1001 Nights DVD . The video is Naomi's record of Damon & Naomi's tour of Japan in 2002. Japanese Scrapbook by Naomi Yang with Damon & Naomi and Ghost from factory twenty five on Vimeo .

I got off the bus just as the heavens opened, not too sure where to go... surely this crappy dead end leading to an industrial estate couldn't be where Damon & Naomi were playing? I tentatively made my way into the darkness - found first an ankle deep puddle and then, eventually, the Whirled Cinema Club. The venue itself was lovely, in a railway arch, and I wandered up the stairs drenched, glasses steamed up and found a spot near a radiator. First act was Woodpecker Wooliams who, with a harp and distinctive vocals, will probably [...]
Damone drummer Dustin Hengst has passed away, according to Metal Insider (citing other band members' Facebook pages as sources). Metalheads probably know Damone best for their acoustic cover of Iron Maiden's "Wasted Years" (above), but the fact is that their 2006 self-titled album was a hard rockin' good time; check out the title track, also [...]

Fairly certain this isn't available to buy anywhere. In 1999 Damon & Naomi released a 73 single on indie Grimsey Records (run by Andrea who had been the A&R at Ryko who had coordinated the Galaxie 500 reissues) - the single featured covers of Bob Dylan's It's All Over Now Baby Blue and Can's Yoo Doo Right - both performed live with Masaki Batoh (of Ghost) and Michio Kurihara at TT the Bears Cambridge, Massachusetts April 9, 1998. Last Friday, Rocketjuice and the Moon took to the Savoy stage to open the annual Cork Jazz Festival. More commonly known as Honest Jon's Chop Up Shop, Rocketjuice and the Moon is the moniker that Damon Albarn and Flea have given to this group of musicians who are only playing [Read more]
Most people missed out on Damone , the '80s-hair-metal-meets-'90s-pow er-pop Boston band, that released a handful of great (but not-so-great-selling) CDs between 2003 and 2008. I'm not sure why the band, fronted by powerhouse Noelle LeBlanc , didn't make it - maybe because while they should have been opening arena tours for Motley Crue and Def Leppard , they aligned themselves with Hot Topic-type bands and were trying to peddle their music to fashionable high school kids with no appreciation for the great music from the late '80s. Damone broke up in 2008 but [...]
On singer Bruce Dickinson's 53rd birthday, Cover Me looks at some hard rocking Iron Maiden covers, as well as some surprisingly soft ones.
If this is truly the year Boston's early-'90s indie scene strikes back, it wouldn't be complete without a new Damon & Naomi track to get lost in while commuting through the city. Joining... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .

Gorillaz call it quits? According to COS , thisisfakediy and people , Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have pulled the plug on the cartoon band Gorillaz. After 13 years of making music and characters together, a sell out world tour has reportedly taken its toll on the duo as they supposedly go their own ways after a series of arguments. I for one hope that this isn't true. Whilst plastic beach may not have lived up to the likes of their first two albums this is certainly no deserving way for Gorillaz [...]

Evil Nine has just dropped their latest Mixtape - and not to be out done by their peers they don't do hour sets, as this clocked in at a whopping 1 hour 31 minutes. The mix is their ususal blend of heavy classic house, techno, post punk, italo disco and UK garage influences whilst also bringing something new to the table. Grab the mix here link . They've also got a new EP out now too - check the medley below which presumably is a mini-mix of the entire EP [...]

Revisiting the fantastic Gonjasufi record from earlier this year, the sample laden epic got me searching for a few of the originals; The track used for 'Duets' is 'The Other Song' from Spirit. It's off their 1975 release 'Son Of Spirit' and is well worth tracking down if your planning a little psych out. You can pick up the LP here . (Download) On a similar psychedelic tip is this from Damon; 'Don't You Feel Me' is off the wonderful 'Forge Your Own Chains' compilation [...]

If you haven't had your yearly fix of dressing up as ghosts or monsters then fear not, Evil Nine have taken it to another level with a new mix entirely made up of VHS horror soundtracks. This is a lovely collection of VHS era electronic horror soundtracks by popular artists such as Chuck Cirino, Tanizaki Tetora, Simon Boswell and Terry Taylor. Plus it includes four previously unreleased Evil Nine horror tracks. VHS 'Party' is maybe overdoing it a bit, we're not completely sure how you're supposed to party to it but I'm sure you'll enjoy it's spooky bounty [...]
I lurrrvvved Damone's Out Here All Night when it was released in 2006. I discovered it from a listening booth - remember those? - at Tower Records - remember those? - and was instantly hooked to their blend of glammy hard rock and crunchy power-pop. I thought that Island Records had given the band the [...]
Here's some things I listened to last week. Feel free to tell me what you listened to by leaving your list in the comment section below. The Gracious Few Candlebox singer backed by members of Live in a Zeppelin-sounding band. Much better than I would have thought based on description alone. The Posies - Blood/Candy As with other bands, my favorites Posies CD is the first one I heard by the Seattle power-pop band, Frosting on the Beater. [...]

After the news that Evil Nine were going to make their own imprint they have just popped over the second mixtape for their new label and it's sure to wake you from your Monday morning coma. It's a bit more funkier than we're used to from the brighton boys. A new direction? Maybe. Great for a Monday though. You can download it for free. For Lovers Part Deux: the rise of the lovers by Evil Nine 116 bpm - jive [...]

Brighton's break-beat boys Evil Nine have just launched their own label, called For Lovers, it will be a platform for material and other emerging artists - we think the name is terrible, but logo isn't bad at all. Their first release is a 3-track affair with Ultimo very much at the forefront. They've handed remixing duties to Dem Slacker - you can listen to them all below and grab the rave-tastic Ultimo for free. And on top of that they have done a Soundcloud mix if you still haven't got your fix. [...]
