Filed under: News , Video MTV While many of us were playing catchup on our Monday post-Super Bowl sleep, the Black Keys debuted a new video for their single 'Gold on the Ceiling' on MTV. The Keys ditched their usual humorous (see: lothario dinosaurs, kids kicking the crap out of each other, dancing custodians) in favor of more conventional rock-star fare. Directed by Reid Long, the clip details your standard road video [...]
El Camino 's "Gold On The Ceiling" is the next thrust in the Black Keys' sorta-surprising-but-then-agai n-not-really ascension to becoming one of America's largest rock bands. They brought it to Letterman in live form awhile ago, and this video is also lots of live footage, mixed with auxiliary shots from life on the road with Patrick and Dan and their interesting taste in jackets. This one will not get love from Ellen Degeneres , and that is just the price the Black Keys are going to have to pay for not featuring Derrick Tuggle in their every video [...]

When Dan Auerbach believes in something, you should too. The Black Keys god and slayer of all things evil is helping this San Antonio quintet hone their sound as they get set to release another album. Yesterday, Hacienda dropped some visuals to go along with "Savage," a groovy track with an effortless flow. The video's got a 'behind-the-scenes' feel to it as it simply shows the band jamming out and Auerbach teaching them a thing or two along the way.

It's safe to say that without the tireless efforts of Alan Lomax , the world may never have been introduced to the likes of Woody Guthrie, Muddy Waters, Leadbelly or countless other musicians the folklorist and ethnomusicologist recorded on dusty back roads, barns or just about anywhere else he could set up his recording gear. Lomax spent his entire career making field recordings of folk and traditional music, both in the U.S. and abroad, amassing a collection of 5,000 hours of sound recordings, 400,000 feet of film, 3,000 videotapes, 5,000 photographs and piles of manuscripts. Some 17,000 tracks from [...]

Following in the footsteps of a number of legacy artists looking to connect with a younger audience, Dr. John tapped Black Keys guitarist Dan Auerbach to produce his latest studio album, Locked Down. The album, which will hit stores on April 3 via Nonesuch Records, was recorded at Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound in Nashville and features a number of young artists handpicked by him to play alongside the Night Tripper . As part of the promotion for the album, it was announced that Mac will play a three-weekend residency at the Brooklyn Academy of Music [...]

Locked Down produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach.
On April 3rd, New Orleans blues great Dr. John will return his latest LP, Locked Down . Recorded in Nashville late last year, the new album pits the 71-year-old musician with The Black Keys Dan Auerbach , who handled production on the project. Auerbach first proposed the partnership in late 2010, insisting he'd produce "the best record [Dr. John] made in a long time," according to an issued press release. Last year, they hallmarked their friendship with a dynamite Superjam at Bonnaroo. Auerbach states in the same release: "Mac inspired me every single day we were [...]
The Black Keys didn't keep us waiting long for their new album reuniting with old co-conspirator Danger Mouse in the process. 'El Camino' is further proof that the duo's unlikely success is not a fluke. Cougar writer Cole added this to his top 10 explaining "'El Camino' is not The Black Keys' best album. Frankly [...]

The Black Keys - Recent Nashville transplants have pretty much redefined and carried the torch for raw, driving and back to basics rock and roll for a decade -- so when Key-man Dan Auerbach says the follow up to 2010's Grammy winning, million-selling Brothers is "raw, driving and back to basics" you know you're in for a white knuckle, tops-down ride...Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton, who co-produced the band's 2008 Attack and Release , is again riding shotgun here // Release : El Camino (December 6, Nonesuch) // Sounds like : [...]

The Black Keys first single from their soon-to-be-released (and highly anticipated) El Camino feels like the work of a band out to rescue rock and roll from its seemingly overdue extinction. Dredged in thick layers of hill country blues, 602s psych, sweat and gasoline fumes, there's little doubt after first listen that The Black Keys return to the studio won't be some sort of thrown-together cash in or hodge-podge. The Keys are craft masters who were clearly not satisfied to rest on their laurels and accolades; the snarling guitar howls and [...]
Filed under: News , Holy Hell Facebook The MTV VMA awards usually entertain the prospect of controversy, crazy "I'mma'let you finish" interruptions and political folly, but last year's show's wackiest moment wasn't even broadcast. In a recent interview with GQ , Ohio bluesmen the Black Keys tell of a clerical error for the ages. "We were on tour and our manager sent us a picture of the award [...]

After that ' BlakRoc 2 ' tease that turned out to be a mistake, the gruesome twosome has returned to treat your ears to some good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll. True to their signature goofball behavior, the band announced its new album, 'El Camino,' with a fake website and an oddball car commercial featuring Bob Odenkirk . [...]

Turns out Bob Odenkirk was right . The Black Keys will release a new LP this year. On December 6th, El Camino , the group's seventh studio effort hits streets via Nonesuch. As Pitchfork reports, the follow up to last year's Brothers sees Dan Auerbach and Pat Carney working alongside Danger Mouse once again. And though we'll have to wait 'til October 26th for new single "Lonely Boy", the Akron duo has provided a tracklist to admire, which we've provided below. Mark it, folks: [...]

*Sorry, I'm just now finishing uploading videos from Kanrocksas* The Black Keys were on point, as usual, at Kanrocksas a few weeks ago. The Arkon, Ohio duo rocked the Stageasaurus Rex stage on the second night of the festival at the Kansas Speedway. Dan Auerbach doesn't waste much time speaking to the crowd. The blues rock band simply lets their music do the talking. I'm just going to follow their lead and let you watch some videos of the concert:
We take a look at several up-and-coming acts from this year's Outside Lands that may have been overshadowed by headliners like Arcade Fire and Phish. Their reputations for infectious and enthusiastic live performances is what earned them their time on stage, and also the reason for their surges in exposure after the festival ended less than two weeks ago. Look inside for audio clips.
