![[News] Y Not Festival Lineup](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4941615_lg.jpg)
You know what I enjoy even more than the UK's biggest festivals? The smaller ones. Last year I ventured back into my home county of Derbyshire to hit up Y Not festival , a homegrown, grass roots built from the ground up festival. Boy did I have a good time. The likes of The Wombats, We Are Scientists, Pulled Apart By Horses, Roots Manuva, Little Comets and a host more across numerous stages graced the fields. This year promises to be even bigger, and with the winning the best small festival award last year, they're going to [...]
I remember the first time I heard this track was at an Upright Citizens Brigade Harold Show in NYC with someone I shared quite a connection with. We both looked at each other at about the same time and said "have you heard this?", "No", "it's dope though, definitely for EMPT readers." I must have had this track on repeat for months and always reminds me of the good times. Thinking about where I heard this and the perspectives that come from this track and UCB make me smile as we speak, the message is so clear and the fact [...]
![Watch: Dan Le Sac feat. Merz - Long Night Of Life [New Video]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4532862_lg.jpg)
Words: Saam Das I'm a big fan of Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip , particularly their debut album 'Angles' . Their mix of spoken word and electro enthralled before the duo decided to take a breather from their combined efforts to focus on individual projects. Scroobius Pip released his debut solo album last year, and Dan Le Sac unleashed his record earlier this year. Watch the new video for the engrossing electronica of 'Long Night Of [...]
By Charlotte Gay The echoes of music, fun and laughter have been replaced to the gentle lowing of cows as Leopallooza VII draws its 2012 festival to a close. Their story began seven years ago when four avid music lovers wanted to create a festival with genuine intentions, fair prices, volunteering friends and a great atmosphere. Leopallooza mark 7.0 proves their core values have not changed. They’re getting recognised for their work too with the Guardian this year naming it as a favourite boutique festival and one of the cheapest at that. [...]
UK electronic producer and an army of guest vocalists soundtrack the most dangerous night of your life.

Friday, April 27, 2012 I don't know about your time perception abilities, but my April went by very, very quickly. When John sent out his traditional PajamaGram(TM) to remind me of my column due date, it definitely came as a surprise. Luckily I had taken the time to acquire some pretty good new music to share with you in the last 30 days. The mix below features new tracks from Aesop Rock (new release forthcoming), El-P (new release awesome), I Self Divine, and many more. I [...]

A weekly feature in which our writers and photographers share their favourite tracks of the week. Mark McGuire - 'Brain Storm (for Erin)' (chosen by Darragh McCausland) Mark McGuire is best known as the young guitarist with the Ohio based drone outfit Emeralds, but that is a mere day job. McGuire is phenomenally prolific, with an oeuvre that teems with collaborations, self-released CDRs, cassettes, and two label retrospectives. You might think the guy spreads himself to thin, such is the rate at which he churns stuff out, but his music is mostly brilliant and [...]

Words: Saam Das You'll have heard the news of the destruction of the Sony DADC distribution centre in Enfield by now - we wanted to help support the independent music labels who have lost most of their stock as a result of the rioters in London. (Independent DVD companies have also been affected - see how you can help here .) Below is a 30 minute playlist covering some of our recommendations of tracks/albums that you can purchase to support [...]

For 364 days a year this blog is dedicated to music I love, artists that need to be heard, and songs to make you sing/dance/cry/make love (delete as the mood fits)... However Christmas Day is a very very special day. Its a day when we listen to music we'd rather die than hear for the other 364 days. Nevertheless I've hunted high and low (ie, blew some dust off the CD rack) to find a few truly great xmas tracks (and some others that at least don't make you want to put those lovely new socks over [...]

Photography by Me! WHEE ! Happy US Thanksgiving Eve!!! Very excited! Tonight, all across America, people will be placing giblets under their pillows with hopes that the Great Gobbler will swoop down their chimneys, exchanging the less-than-pleasanet-though-ver y-high-in-iron innards for beer & Stove Top Stuffing brand stuffing! AND... if you've been an extra good boy or girl this year, the Great Gobbler will even insure your favourite team has an extra-special juiced-up syringe of steroids, to help them win "the big game". Here's [...]
Full review here . Dan Le Sac Vs. Scoobius Pip and Kid A - The Workman's Club - Alan Moore
Tonight must be the revamped Workman’s Club’s biggest triumph yet, crammed to the point of bursting with an eclectic and sweaty throng determined to strut their way through Le Sac Vs. Pip’s last gig for a year. The crowd includes Scroobius Pip’s beleaguered mother, a lad whose so determined to get the urban poet’s autograph that he spends most of the set holding out a pen and CD cover, and the kind of triumphant atmosphere more commonly associated with top sporting events. It’s not just for the headliner, either. Kid A , who features on [...]

I'm back with some more classics for you bass-loving, 2-stepping dubheads! Some older, some newer, these choons have enough wobble to keep you ataxic till next Wednesday. In order to celebrate Mr. Nectar's forthcoming, sure-to-be-epic Wildstyle EP , I've posted the title track off his most recent album. We've also got the usual dose of Rusko, because I love him so much, and you should, too. For you newcomers, we've got some clutch goodies like Benga's Night - a dubstep standard (also see last week's post for more classics). Lastly, there's a whole gang of [...]
VILLA Do you know what the 'Iambic Pentameter' is? It's something we want to discuss today as we feel there's a similar thing found in music. There's a certain pace of a beat that seems to fit so well inside our heads and it's a difficult one to pin down or describe, but when you hear it, particularly in electronic music, it just feels right. Perhaps it's the way it's played? Perhaps it's that it's a great beat to move to, allowing steps between the beats, so you can dance with ease to it? Perhaps it's [...]
For this year's Bestival we decided to take a different approach by sending in our very own young festival rookie to soak up the atmosphere. Here is her account: As a festival virgin and an indie music newbie, Bestival was a much needed and appreciated experience. Dotted over the net are paragraphs of negativity directed [...]
Following on from the earlier post about Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip I was recently sent the above Intruder.tv interview. It's good to hear the duo discuss the tour, album and latest single, plus you'll get a few laughs. Additionally, here is a remix of 'Great Britain' (which we featured during the British elections) [...]
