Regular readers will be as surprised as we are to learn that we haven't written about Johnny Foreigner for almost a month. For a while it seemed like we couldn't go two days without writing about the Birmingham, England-based noisepop trio, a fact that prompted one of our colleagues to remark that sometimes Clicky Clicky is like a Johnny Foreigner (and Frightened Rabbit ) fan blog. We're OK with that. As we stated more than a year ago here , we once considered fairly strongly starting a new blog exclusively devoted to Johnny Foreigner. [...]

Back on the same track as with the Johnny Foreigner post : new British indie stuff. Dananananaykroyd (awesome name, huh?) is a band from Glasgow. They exist since 2006 and are getting more and more attention as time passes. DiS even named them the "best live band in the UK". You know how it goes. The 6 members of the band present an angst-ridden, noisy, post-hardcore shouting-feast which must look awesome on stage. They call it 'fight pop'. Anti-popculture and the war between mainstream and underground seems to rise again. Of course, you can [...]
Danana quê? WDF?

>> Up until about a month ago the name Dolby Anol would have simply been part '80s new wave icon, part gibberish to us. But then the name became attached to one of the remixes on the forthcoming Johnny Foreigner single "Salt, Peppa and Spinderella." And somewhere thereafter we learned that Dolby Anol was the nom de remix of a duo that includes at least one member of Glaswegian fight pop septet Dananananaykroyd , whose angular, intense indie rock references some of our favorite D.C. post hardcore sounds. We were very [...]
>> Those readers who don't conscientiously watch the comments to our items likely missed an anonymous post from someone who certainly sounds like he or she knows that of which he or she speaks. And in that post our commenter stated the reason Best Before Records pulled the video for Johnny Foreigner 's "Salt, Peppa and Spinderella"(it of course has since been posted to Vimeo after being leaked by the cats at DrownedInSound; we've posted it atop these paragraphs) was to afford Pitchfork the opportunity of an exclusive (Pfork ran with it very early this morning). Seems a little [...]

>> Drowned In Sound reports here that Selkirk, Scotland's finest, the indie rock foursome Frightened Rabbit , will issue a third single to support its superlative sophomore set The Midnight Organ Fight [read our review here ]. Due Sept. 22 in the UK is the uptempo rocker "I Feel Better" backed with our favorite track from the record, the infectious and relatively swinging piano-pounder "The Twist." The Midnight Organ Fight , incidentally, has finally been issued on vinyl, although label Fat Cat's web site says the 12" issue is already sold out just [...]

[SCREEN CAP from YouTube] Another day, another Johnny Foreigner update. The Birmingham, England-based indie rock superheroes have disclosed that the b-sides to its forthcoming 10" single "Salt, Peppa and Spinderella" -- yes, the trio is now sort of an answer to Black Flag 's age old question -- will be three remixes. Collaborators meeting the challenge of remixing the pulsing anthem include Bloc Party (a partnership that underscores that Johnny Foreigner 's profile is definitively on the rise), Dolby Anol featuring Acrnym (otherwise known as some or [...]

The main room of Camden's Proud Galleries was buzzing like a very excited bee as I arrived, slightly late, for the night's proceedings. The crowd, already titterlated by overpriced Kopparberg cider, cheap Camden market food and, from what I heard, a formidable set from Tubelord, seemed anxious to see two of Britain's most exciting indie-rock prospects. Dananananaykroyd were too many in number and instruments to fit on the venue's tiny stage so they had to over flow a guitarist onto the floor by the side of the stage. It was unneeded, to [...]

So the reason I hadn't posted in a while before the Bloc Party single review below was that I'd been on holiday. To make up for the lack of new music for you in that time, here's the two new records that I was listening to while I was away. Dananananaykroyd - Sissy Hits Sissy Hits is the first EP from Glaswegian "fight-pop" sextet Dananananaykroyd to be released in the UK. After being dropped [...]
Revelations Niente punti stavolta!

[PHOTO CREDIT: Jim in Aberdeen] >> We apologize for the inactivity here. Our wireless Internet can't seem to function for more than 15 minutes at a time for some unknown reason. This makes us want to smash like Hulk . We thought upgrading our five-year-old router would solve the problem, but it has not. We may need a new wireless card. But we are due for a new machine at year-end, so perhaps we will just move up the time table on that. On to the rock. >> Dananananaykroyd . If you don't read Drowned [...]

...Who you gonna call?... This commonly miss spelt, tongue twisting, Glaswegian sextet started life in January of 2006 when members James (drums) and David (guitar)'s former band 'Multiplies' disbanded. Railing against the archetypal Glasgow scenester, seemingly intent on standing stock-still at gigs and exhibiting the least amount of enthusiasm possible.. whilst sporting the haircut du jour, studying Franz B-sides and trying their hardest not [...]

TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2006 When choosing my Top 10 albums from 2006, I considered mostly what I actually listened to. This was a particularly good year for music - one of the best in recent memory - and a lot of great albums were released. There were plenty of albums that I liked, but what good is an album, really, if you've no desire to listen to it? These may not be the absolute best albums of 2006 in a critical sense, but they're the ones I spent the most time with. [...]
