I stumbled upon this gem the other day. It's really quite amazing. Enjoy. "Roller Skating has never been so much fun when you have a little LCD Soundsystem to rock out to! Compositing and rotoscoping done in Mocha and After Effects. Edited in Final Cut Pro. Song: "Dance Yrself Clean" - LCD Soundsystem." LCD Soundsystem // Hung Low Films

Over the past week, there's been a sudden glut of covers come from some of 70/day/wknd's favorite bands, including the xx, Purity Ring, and MS MR. Rather than separate them out into individual take cover posts, I've put all three songs into one mega-post (assuming three constitutes 'mega,' which it does). Get ready to hear some songs you've probably already heard before. But different. First up is the cover likely getting the most press, which is the xx covering the Beyonce/Frank Ocean track "Miss You." And this one was actually shot close to 70/day/wknd [...]

We were presented with the beauty of MS MR 's newest video only a couple weeks ago, and while I thought that should hold me over for a while before they decide to release some new tracks off of their forthcoming debut full-length ( Second Hand Rapture - set for release May 14th via Columbia), they decided to surprise us with a rendition of LCD Soundsystem 's "Dance Yrself Clean" , recorded in Sydney's Triple J Radio during their recent stint in Australia. [...]
Favorite Songs of 2012: Part 1 (100-51) You will have to take these list rankings with a grain of salt, because although I tried my best to accurately arrange the tracks, I change it every time I listen to one of the songs. I also only included my favorite song from each artist, so there are no doubles (except for I think one person, but they were part of two different groups). A few songs are also technically from before 2012, but they all appear on albums or [...]
[author-name] Sped up or slowed down. Ironic or painstakingly sincere. Blown up or stripped down. Cover songs can be approached many different ways, but there one element shared by all great covers: they must be EFFECTIVE. Here are the most effective... the Top 10 Cover Songs of 2012. 1) ARIEL PINK'S HAUNTED GRAFFITI "BABY" (original: Donnie & Joe Emerson) : Forget cover songs, this might top my list of Best Songs of 2012... period. Not to mention this received the most positive [...]

Slowly but steadily, Danish duo The Raveonettes have become one of the hardest working indie bands on the circuit. Ever since arriving onto the scene under a fog of melodic vocals, fuzzy guitars and feedback, the duo have put out albums at an incredible rate. Check this out: 2002 - Whip It On (actually an EP) 2003 - Chain Gang of Love 2005 - Pretty in Black 2007 - Lust Lust Lust 2009 - In and Out of Control 2011 - Raven in the Grave 2012 - Observator [...]

A few of my favorite new releases this week, including new stuff from The Raveonettes , Seapony , The Vaccines , David Byrne and St. Vincent , and the highly anticipated sophomore effort from The xx . As always, be sure to visit Largehearted Boy [...]

Danish dream-pop duo The Raveonettes have unveiled "She Owns the Streets", the second single off their forthcoming sixth studio album, Observator . The bubbly pop-rock number was inspired by singer/guitarist Sune Rose Wagner's recent friendship with a New York City dancer. "I’ve noticed her before dancing wildly on Bowery, running crazily in the street among the cabs and horrified passers-by," he said. "In 20 minutes I had written a song about the pleasures and pitfalls of being perceived as either a drug-crazed girl or an insane individual, simply because she dares to defy [...]
The Raveonettes have released another new song from their upcoming album, Observator, out September 11th through Vice Records. The new single is "She Owns The Streets", and you can listen to it below. Raveonettes Tour Dates (more to be announced): September 21 Hawthorne Theatre Portland, OR September [...]
Watch a clip of LCD Soundsystem 's performance of "Dance Yrself Clean" from their farewell show at Madison Square Garden taken from the upcoming documentary "Shut Up And Play The Hits" . I was late on the LCD Sounsystem train (well and on the indie music one, for the most part), only hopping on after the release of the 2010 behemoth that was "This Is Happening" . From there I went back to explore the band's previous efforts and the band quickly [...]
This has been the longest wait ever for a documentary of a band's final show! My lord it going to be worth it though. Check it out
LCD Soundsystem - Dance Yrself Clean (taken from the documentary film ‘Shut Up and Play the Hits’)”

So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band, a show preview, or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we'll just round 'em all up for you. Most of these videos are of artists we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won’t be telling you much about the bands themselves, just some musings that really aren’t worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a trillion. Do it! Words by [...]

Everyone should know by now that I mess with The Antlers . No need to sing their praises any further. They stopped by Orange Studios in Austin, TX to perform a Daytrotter Session last Wednesday. They perform four tracks off their latest release, Burst Apart . Enjoy. LISTEN AND DOWNLOAD THE DAYTROTTER SESSION

Silversun Pickups have already exceeded my expectations as band with their last album Swoon . What I expected to be an updated version of the 902s one hit wonder bands turned into one of the more exciting bands of the late-20002s for me. They're back with some new music. "Seasick" is included on a 103 vinyl release that SP put out last week. These songs will not appear on their upcoming third album. Still exciting to hear anything new from this band. Hopefully some MP3 versions of these three unreleased tracks will surface soon.

We've been monitoring the global music scenes for nearly four years on The Recommender. What we've come to notice is that cities and sometimes entire countries seem to randomly peak at the top of everyone's attention from one year to the next, like an ever-changing economic graph of music. When we started music was buzzing on the back of France, and particularly Paris', dominant electro scene. That was swiftly followed by Australia's outpouring of electro pop bands. Scandinavia seems to spout new bands at an alarmingly high rate and New York is never far from the top but both of [...]

We were mystified by the Canadian band BRAIDS when they shyly stepped on stage to open for Toro Y Moi but tapped into a vocal geyser that released a myriad of tones and melodies. It was like watching a choir of fairy tale creatures exchanging harmonious gifts. These guys are releasing a split 73 with Purity Ring on October 10th, with their new track "Peach Wedding" - a lovely, psychedelic, and curiously electrifying song, in true form to BRAIDS. Stream it below: Technorati Tags: [...]
