Silversun Pickups have already exceeded my expectations as band with their last album Swoon . What I expected to be an updated version of the 902s one hit wonder bands turned into one of the more exciting bands of the late-20002s for me. They're back with some new music. "Seasick" is included on a 103 vinyl release that SP put out last week. These songs will not appear on their upcoming third album. Still exciting to hear anything new from this band. Hopefully some MP3 versions of these three unreleased tracks will surface soon.

We were mystified by the Canadian band BRAIDS when they shyly stepped on stage to open for Toro Y Moi but tapped into a vocal geyser that released a myriad of tones and melodies. It was like watching a choir of fairy tale creatures exchanging harmonious gifts. Last week we learned that Braids and Purity Ring would appear on a joint 7" single including new tracks from both Canadian psych-poppers. You typically won't find LCD Soundsystem blasting through my stereo speakers. I've just never really found a great deal of enjoyment in the band. But if you put Muppets in your video I'll stand up and take notice. Kermit made his debut performance in an unofficial LCD Soundsystem track a few years ago in the Simon Owens directed video for <a href=""New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" . This is Happening was probably one of the more debated albums for me last year, with me coming down on the "pro" side and a lot of other folks being "con." To which I would answer "Have you heard 'Dance Yrself Clean?'" Now you can hear it with Muppets.
I am gutted. I've seen LCD Soundsystem twice recently. I saw them a mere 2 weeks ago. And there was no sign of them breaking in any of the best songs from This Is Happening. And now, here they are, at the Wellmont, playing 'Dance Yrself Clean', 'You Wanted a Hit' and 'Home', three contenders for song of the year.
